The Winter Guest

When I was about 13 years old, I was spending the night at a friends house, who lives on a farm in Bristol Wisconsin. It was a brisk fall night, maybe 10 o'clock. My friend and I were shooting a bow and arrow at an old oak tree about 30 or so feet from from the light that shined from the back door of their old farm house.

We were getting a bit bored after a half hour or so of just shooting arrows at this tree, so my friend said "Hey, I'm going into the house to get a target for us to shoot at.". I then shot another arrow at the tree, and turned to him and said "Okay".

I then looked back towards the tree to see where the arrow had hit. Instead of seeing an arrow, I saw a young boy about my age (13?) standing in front of the tree. The outside light was bright enough to see the texture of the thick bark on the trees, but I couldn't make out this persons face, or what color clothing he was wearing.

He was just standing there, with his hands in his pockets and his weight off to one side, silent... so no mist was coming from his mouth, and about 25 feet away from me. The first thing that came to mind was... "How come I didn't hear him coming up, because of all the fallen crunchy leaves?". Then my friend came back outside and I turned to him and said "Hey, do you know this guy?".

I pointed as I looked back at the tree, and the mysterious figure was gone. My friend said "What guy?" I told him that there was someone standing there just a few seconds ago. He said "I did'nt see anyone." , and right at that moment was when I knew that I had seen something that was obviously "Paranormal", because neither my friend nor I heard anyone running away, and we all know what dry leaves in mid fall sound like when walked upon, right?

The feeling I got when I saw this figure was just a dead, eerie, ear piercing silence that seemed to not to have any relation to time, because what only lasted seconds seemed to last minutes. I wasn't scared, it just seemed that he curious, that's all.
Thanks.
