Prom Night Ghosts

In the summer of 1987, I often stayed at the house of my best freind. Cris and I had been friends since elementry, and now that we had reached our teens, we often spent many a summer night testing are man hood in the big city of San Antonio.

Cris's house was located in the country about 15 miles from San Antonio, and therefore provided us with a great freedom, as there were not many neighbors to catch us acting up. Near this house was on old bridge with a large concrete culvert where spent most of the days riding or skateboards.

One Sunday morning, we awoke to get ready for the day ahead, when his mother entered the room and asked us why we were at the ditch so late last night. We promptly replied that we werent at the dicth, but here in the house all night.(We really were this time). She then said that one of the few neighbors he did have, had called her this morning and said that they had seen Chris and I, along with 2 girls walking down the road about 2 a.m. last night near the ditch. We promised her that it wasnt us, and blew the matter off. But to our surprise she got the same phone call several more times during the summer, and from different neighbors.

At a loss for what was going on, we decided to visit the bridge ourselves that night. We hid out in the woodline near the road, and waited. About 1 a.m., we heard voices and look out at the road to see 2 boys, and 2 girls walking our way. They were dressed way to nice to be walking down the road, and decided to confront them. Cris yelled at them to stop, and we ran for the road. We had to clear a couple of obstacles to get there, and lost sight of them for a breif moment.

When we reached the road, they were gone, and we never saw them again. Finding this odd, we did a little research at the local library, and discovered that in 1956, while on their way to the prom, 4 teenagers were kiled in a car wreck at that very bridge. The strangest part however, was that there was a picture of the victims in the paper, in the picture were the same 4 indaviduals we had seen that night.
