More Basic Beads

I've developed variations to the basic bead I needed to accomplish certain design ideas. Since the original basic bead tends toward a square shape, I've added the Pentabead and the Two/Three for more rounded melon shapes.

The "Mighty Melon" necklace contains five new embellished beads built on the basic bead variations presented here.

The Pentabead, a variation of the basic bead.

Delicas (MC=main color), 10/0 Twisted Hex Beads (CC=Contrast color), Silamide or Nymo
Rows 1,2 & 3: String 10 Delicas (MC) and begin as described on the home page (or tie in circle). Slip on toothpick. Work 1 row peyote with Delicas (5 beads).
Row 4: Work 1 row peyote with Twisted Hex beads (CC)(5 beads).
Row 5: Work 1 row peyote with MC, adding 2 Delicas in each space (2-drop peyote)(10 beads).
*Rows 6&7: Work 1 row peyote with Twisted Hex beads (5 beads). Work 1 row of 2-drop peyote with MC.**
Repeat from * to ** until you have 6 Twisted Hex beads [for the shorter bead shown here, work until there are 5 beads] in a column down the bead.
End with 3 rows of 1-drop peyote worked in Delicas.

The Two/Three, a variation of the basic bead.

Delicas (MC=main color), 10/0 Twisted Hex Beads (CC=Contrast color), Silamide or Nymo
Rows 1,2 & 3: String 8 Delicas (MC) and begin as described on the home page (or tie in circle). Slip on toothpick. Work 1 row peyote with Delicas (4 beads).
Row 4: Work 1 row peyote with Twisted Hex beads (CC)(4 beads).
Row 5: Work 1 row peyote with MC, adding 2 Delicas in each space (2-drop peyote)(8 beads).
*Rows 6&7: Work 1 row peyote with Twisted Hex beads (4 beads). Work 1 row adding 3 Delicas in each space.**
Repeat from * to ** until you have 5 Twisted Hex beads in a column down the bead.
Row 13: Work 1 row peyote with MC, adding 2 Delicas in each space (2-drop peyote)(8 beads).
End with 3 rows of 1-drop peyote worked in Delicas.

The Pentabead Two/Three

Work exactly like the Two/Three beginning with 10 Delicas instead of 8.

The Almost-All Hex Bead

This bead was bound to happen because it's even faster to create.
*Rows 4&5: Work 2 rows peyote with Twisted Hex beads (5 beads in each row). **
Repeat from * to ** until you have 6 Twisted Hex beads [for a shorter bead, work until there are 5 beads] in a column down the bead. There will be pairs of alternating columns with six Hex beads in one and five in the other [five in one and four in the other in the shorter bead].
End with 3 rows of 1-drop peyote worked in Delicas.
