Our Purpose:

As Arab Americans and an Arabic folkloric dance troupe, our purpose is to help reunite our fellow Arab Americans with a peice of their culture that they are missing while living away from their original home in the Middle East. We dance to help revive the Arabic Culture and Heritage. We have named ourselves Zahrat Al Mada'en Folkloric Dance Troupe (ZAMFDT)after our beloved and holy city of Jerusalem, knowing that Jerusalem has a special place in everyone's heart and faith. Although we are not a political group, we also dance to help dissolve the negative stereotypes that are placed on Arabs.

Current Project:

Presently, we are working on an ensemble of many dances from the cultures and traditions of our native country, Palestine. We hope to have a complete and exquisite display of Palestinian culture and folklore by summer, 2001.
