Not That Different
Prologue

She had accomplished more than most young women her age.  Kyla Trinity Tamblyn, 22, was a New York Best Selling author.   Seven of her short story compilations had gone straight to number 1, most within just a few weeks of their debuts.   Kyla carried herself with grace, elegance, and sophistication, yet, kindness and generosity were far from the picture.

She had found that the only way to get to the top was to not worry about the “little people” as she called them.  Her ideas of a “utopian” society were far from what Thomas More ever imagined.  She easily found herself bored by the normal routines of every day life.  Relaxing at home, watching television, and listening to music, like most young women her age, was considered dull and mundane.  Living the life of someone rich and famous seemed more exotic and exciting than that of her old college friends.  But, beyond all her faults and downfalls, she had a fiance that had a heart of gold.

*** *** ***

He was an amazing singer, who found joy in making others happy with his music.  Not only was Nickolas Gene Carter an accomplished vocalist, but also a talented musician and songwriter. He pleased the world alongside his four best friends, the Backstreet Boys.

He was a tall and handsome 20 year old, with a sweet and adoring face.  His eyes had that sparkle that could always draw you in.  He had a childlike manner and was never afraid of having a little innocent fun.  His idea of a perfect evening was sitting on the beach, admiring the ocean’s beauty.  The crashing of the waves would relax him as he stared up at the stars that graced the sky.

His music was his first love…and his comics and drawings, his second.  However, none of them could compare to the feeling he got when he was around Kyla.  She always drew him in, making him feel butterflies in his stomach.

However, everyone around him found it strange that he and Kyla had bonded.  They were from two separate worlds.  The two of them were more than just opposites of each other…they had absolutely nothing in common.

How the two could stand each other and stay together was beyond the imaginations of their friends.  But, for some odd reason…it worked.

That was…until that summer day.
