ICQ and similar 'buddy list' programs are great secondary channels to use while you're using a conventional chat room. ICQ has random chat features that can even be a great way to find others and reach them for Christ.

If you have no idea what ICQ is, go to www.mirabilis.com and find out! It's a fantastic program.

When out in cyberspace, going about the Lord's work, it can be hard to network with other believers. However, if you have other S.T.R.I.K.E. members on your contact list, then you can be alerted to when your ministry partners are online, and can keep them informed of any upcoming mission opportunities.

ICQ is also a good way to communicate with people you are discipling or teaching. Unlike e-mail, you're able to send short messages instantaneously.

S.T.R.I.K.E. reccomends that all members have some form of secondary communication, like ICQ or a similar buddy list. Below are the names and/or numbers of various S.T.R.I.K.E.rs who use ICQ:

HINTS on ICQ Ministry:

ICQ ministry approaches differ little from traditional chat-room techniques. However, we do advise that one be concentrate on no more than 2-4 conversations at the same time. (You may be able to handle more or less, but please use your judgment). We don't reccomend using 'invisible' mode when the chat requests start piling in, but do reccomend sending a personal note stating something similar to this: "I would like to give you my undivided attention right now, but I simply can't. Feel free to e-mail me, or if you would like to check back in X hours or so, I would love to talk."
