Did you Know:
With a good taper, the runner is not only ready to run fast, she believes she will run fast. As a pre-race taper begins and a runner logs fewer miles each day and week, tired muscles get needed rest and the carbohydrate stores in the muscles refuel to levels higher than at any other time during training. Gone is the mental fatigue that accompanies hard training. The mind is now rested, alert, and ready to go.

It has worked for me 100% of the time.
