DIRECTIONS Everyone will be responsible for reaching Bay City, Texas. (From Dallas, I-45 to Hwy 59 is best. From Austin, Hwy 71 to I-10. Please consult http://www.mapquest.com ) Highway 60 runs right through Bay City. Once you hit town, continue south on Hwy 60. This leg of the drive toward Matagorda will last ~20 miles, +/- 5. Upon reaching the center of Matagorda there will be a blinking light where 60 meets 2031. Turn left. At this intersection there will be a large convenience store. This is the most convenient place to buy ice and drinks for the beach, as well as beach permits. (Below you will find more information on beach permits) Shortly after turning left you will pass over a small drawbridge. This is how you will know you are on the right track. Follow this road to the beach. You can’t mess up, it’s one road that ends at the sand, although it is rather long. Turn left, following the pavement. DO NOT park on the concrete, as the party will be 3-6 miles up the beach. Turn left onto the sand (you can only go one way) and drive until you hear the thumping music.
BEACH PERMITS Beach permits cost $6. They can be purchased at the convenience store at the intersection of 60 and 2031, or there will be a booth right where the pavement ends where you can buy it (cash only from this dude). If you arrive during the day you will not be able to enter the beach without one, but if you come late at night there will be no place to buy it. This is the deal: we have had beach permits and not had beach permits. We’ve never been asked to show one and don’t really know what they’re for. If you come during the day you will have to buy one, but if you come at night, don’t worry about it. It’s not really a big deal. Nonetheless, we highly encourage you to arrive while the sun still hangs in the sky, to set up your camp and acquaint yourself with your surroundings.
MISCELANEOUS DETAILS Please bring whatever food and beverage you require. No vending will be available on site. There is absolutely NO GLASS ALLOWED. Camping is permitted, and encouraged. There are NO facilities, however, so please come prepared. Insect repellant is recommended.
So plan on a drive. To join us for the evening. And dance under the stars. And among the waves. Barefoot in the sand. The way it was meant to be.
