Synopsis: This book includes an 11" pink voodoo doll covered with designations such as "Unrequited," "Clammy Hands," and "Caught in the Act." Also included are voodoo pins (white for good spells, black for "the rest"). The Love Voodoo Handbook itself details the methodology of voodoo, presenting a history of the practice as well as some hilarious words of caution. The book features spells as well--not exactly the chanting-around-a-cauldron type--they're more like cutesy procedures to perform. Spells range from the basic (Saying the Right Thing) to the more unconventional (Keeping Bedspring Volume Down...during, um, more amorous activities). There's even a little "insurance" for when love turns sour.
Analysis: With a little humor and maybe a little reverse psychology, Voodoo Lou drives home the message that even you--yes, YOU--can take charge of your love life.
Recommendation: Well, this book is good for a laugh, if not anything else. Voodoo Lou just has the greatest way with stream of consciousness and quirky footnotes. Even if it doesn't cure your love troubles, you can have all the fun of pretending that it can.
