Hiya folks. Got nothing done over spring break. Made some guacamole, though. Susan ate it! Ha ha ha HA! I didn't go anywhere--in fact, I barely left my house. Slept until about 3 or 4 PM every day. It was very restful.Last Friday, I saw Richard on campus. Yes, it really was Richard. I was both surprised and not surprised, if that makes any sense. Richard is someone I knew from Master Wu's kung fu class...about three or four years ago. I hadn't seen him since then, not really. Actually, he was in my Human Situation class last year, but I didn't realize it was him. He now has long black hair, so he looks pretty different. I passed him at school lots of times, each time thinking, That guy looks kind of like Richard.
On Friday, Richard-look-alike finally called out to me as he was heading back to his dorm. Hey, so it was Richard after all! That was really cool; I got to do a little catching up with him. And now I know another person at school! It was great to see him again. I'm not even sure where the rest of my kung fu class wandered off to...
Does anyone have any idea what happened to Janine Chmiola? She went to UH last year, and this year...gone.
I get nostalgic over funny things. Just a few days ago, I felt nostalgic over old phone numbers. I was sort of looking at the numbers on my phone and remembering the phone numbers I used to dial all the time. I thought about all the friends I used to telephone, sometimes for homework help, sometimes just to ask if they wanted to go out and play.
After about seventh or eighth grade, I didn't call people as much. Usually, we all had too much in our schedules to fit in a good long chat, and I didn't have many people to call over homework. Through high school, it was Frau G and the German Club members that I called constantly, and in fact, I wasted countless hours calling people who never called back or who never arrived at club meetings. I regret that a lot...I know I could have made far better grades in school if not for that.
Now, I talk to strangers over the phone, people who merely provide me with information. When was the last time anyone called me just to talk? We do all our communicating over the 'Net now...
Incidentally, I have some domestic phone cards that I need to use up...is there anyone who'd like a phone call? I can set aside some time and give you a call--let's remind ourselves of the great service provided by Alexander Graham Bell, who has to go by his full name in order to be recognized. So sad.
Does anyone think the slogan "Reach out and touch someone" sounds like license to harrass people? Just a thought.
Ah, my pretty hash browns...soon you will be mine! $3.28 and counting...
