This was my very first time on campus. It's funny--you'd think someone would actually take a look at the school before he or she applied, but I didn't really have any choice, did I? The orientation materials were totally wrong. We weren't supposed to stay in the Honors quads; we were supposed to stay in the terrible Moody Towers dorms. I signed in and met my roomie, a girl named Jennifer. She seemed nice. I never saw her again, so I really can't say for sure. We weren't really ever in the room at the same time.I felt really sick for the first few hours. I don't know if it was because it was so early, or perhaps my backpack straps were pressing down on my shoulders. I was starting to have airplane flashbacks. Or it could have been the muggy weather or the weird smells around campus. We went to get name tags and were assigned to different orientation groups. Our O-Team leaders went through a bunch of things with us. They also did some skits for us about adjusting to college life and brainwashed the fight song into us. Apparently, being an O-Team leader is something UH students do for a summer job. I would hate it sooo much.
We also got a quick tour of the campus and learned where we had to go for registration advising the next day. Honors College rocks!
Not.
Ugh. I sooo cannot see myself attending this school for 4 years. Let me out! Let me out!
Well, at least registration was really easy. I hope I can handle Calculus. When I was taking the 3 hour placement test, I was freaking out because the people on either side of me left after about an hour. I didn't realize until later that they probably left because they couldn't finish the test. I stayed the whole time, and I was only able to do about 80 out of the 100 questions. When I only had 5 minutes left, I just skipped ahead and did every question that I could answer correctly in less than 10 seconds. We weren't supposed to answer anything we didn't feel sure about. It's funny, I got a higher score in Calculus Readiness than Advanced Algebra. I'm sort of worried. Whee! I'm going to take Astronomy and Mass Media & Society. Those sound pretty cool. I'm sort of dreading the Human Situation class. I know I'm going to hate it.
I had like $20 on my meal card that I had to use up. I went to Wendy's and bought a bunch of food to take home. I was already stuffed. I, I, I, me, me, me, myself, myself, myself. There was some confusing business with my ID card. I went and got it in the morning, and then, O-Team was helping us go through the process of getting one. I told them I already got one, but they thought I was joking and wanted me to go through the whole process again. This O-Team girl named Linda was totally jerking me around, so I told her I wasn't going to forget her. Eh heh. Heh heh heh...
