The Rock of Ages

I saw two little boys one day,
Down by the seashore, hard at play;
One built a castle upon the sand,
And proudly viewed the work of his hand.
Then came the storm tides rolling in—
Nothing was left where his house had been.
The other boy built his castle on rock,
Which storms could never move nor shock.
He also viewed and what did he see—
A house that would stand for eternity.
Christ is the Rock of Ages today,
He is the life, the truth, and the way.
If we want our house forever to stand,
We must build on the Rock, not the shifting sand.
