National Administrative Coach Mohan Subramanium came down to San Antonio for a two day Coach Educator Summit held by the USOC on the 16th and 17th of June. He then spent that Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with badminton players from all over Texas. Michael Gamez and Alamo Badminton Club hosted the first junior clinic in Texas, which catered to athletes from San Antonio, Austin, Round Rock, and Houston. Kids of different ages and of different skill levels were in attendance and all welcomed Mohan to their state. Mohan discussed singles and doubles strategies, efficient footwork, and cross training techniques. He showed on court drills, exercises to improve footwork, and methods of training. The kids could not get enough of him that they were still yearning for more right up until the end at 5 pm on Sunday. During the clinic parents and coaches were invited to take notes on how to improve their own strokes and footwork. After the clinic, Mohan also spent a whole day with the coaches addressing various topics including: USAB's plans for coaches, player development, and skill drills.
