HOT WATER MUSIC/DISCOUNT/ELLIOT/PEZZ

Man-o-man!!! This was the absolute most intense experience I've had all year. I missed Pezz so I can't say much about them but Elliot friggin' blew me away. They've really shaped up their sound since last time they were here and man, they are one of the best emo bands out there. Next up was Discount. Anyone who has heard this band know exactaly what I mean when I say "WOW"! The have these sharp female vocals that hit you just right to get you jumpin and basically just rockin' out, as if their hooks and melodies alone wouldn't do that to you. Finally it was time for Hot Water Music. Now, I must say these guys are on top of their game. By the time they started playing every guy in fitzdown had pushed their way as close as they could get to the stage. It was kinda cool for me cause I ended up basically standing on the stage. The played two new songs which seemed to be a very promising direction. They sounded a little poppier than the old stuff and a little more body shakin' too. Well, they played all of their great old stuff. It was really cool cause the singer would pass the mic down to the crowd every once in awhile. This was especially cool for me cause I was right in front of him. The show ended with "220 years" which was so incredible to hear live. I advise everyone to go out and buy something by HWM, because it's truly a soul moving experience.

MAN OR ASTRO MAN?/ROCK-A-TEENS/JAPANIC

Right now, I'll start off by saying, Japanic stole this show. The coolest feeling in the world is telling your friends' band that they rock and really really meaning it from the bottom of you heart. Japanic may be well on its way out of here because Houston is just not big enough for them. They mark a new beginning for new wave, not just in town, but perhaps around the world. But they were amazing not even ELIAC could save MOAM?. Next were The Rock-a-teens. Kinda like a male version of Sleater Kinney, might I add, they rocked hard and fast. Plus, unlike what I've heard about SK, they were really nice guys. Man or Astroman rocked the house but the sad thing is, once you've seen them once, it gets old. Woohoo, we've got a big computer, we set our helmets on fire. Woohoo. But for a first timer it'll knock the cool outta yer shoes.
