Jane McGehee

Recent evidence has come to us through the expert research of some of our cousins, indicating that the woman named Jane McGehee who married Hayden Hilton was NOT our wife of James after all. That it was a possible other child of James and Jane named Jane.

Here is a copy of her marriage certificate. It states that Miss Jane McGehee married Mr Hayden Hilton and permission was given by her father, James McGehee.

This would indicate that the Sarah Jane Hilton on the 1840 and 50 census of Lawrence County Mo, was not the daughter of Jane McGehee (James' wife) but actually the grandaughter of
James and Jane McGehee.

Below is the rest of the marriage licence.

The only child known of this marriage between Jane and Hilton is Sarah Jane Hilton who married Rev Cyrus Cepal Bryant. They had the following children.

Martha Ann Bryant Bn Lawrence county, Aug 20, 1856. Married Sept 25, 1873 to Jacob Long. Died Dec 11, 1874 in Dade county.

James Bryant bn Oct 4, 1854, Lawrence county
Died 1905 Married Georgianna Tike.

Mary Alice Lucy Bryant (Aunt of William Henry Bryant)
married William Isaiah Lowe (William was born in 1849 in Rising Falls Ga.)
Mary Alice is buried in Union Cemetery, Bakersfield California, she died in 1941 and he died in 1925.

William H Bryant Bn in Lawrence county 1864 married Nora Felter.

John D Bryant bn 1865 Married Ella Speer

Abraham L Bryant bn 1869 married to Clara Sanders 1891 died 1902

Rev Cyrus (C.C.) and Sarah J Hilton Bryant were missionaries to the Indians of Oklahoma. They are buried in Speed Oklahoma. Information that has come to me from a decendant of another Bryant line, states that they are buried where a lake now stands.
