Tevin Campbell

All it takes is for someone with rare talent to excite the music industry and Tevin Campbell represents one of those few examples. Tevin Campbell born November 19, 1975 in Waxahachie, Texas and was the discovery of Warner Records' legendary Quincy Jones. At age 11, Tevin received the honor of being apart of Quincy Jones's historic Grammy Award winning album Black on the Block with the legends Ella Fitzgerald, Barry White, Chaka Khan, Ray Charles and Sarah Vaughn. "Tomorrow(Better You, Better Me)," was a number one hit for Tevin and the artist formerly known as Prince requested that he do the song "Round and Round" for the soundtrack to the movie Graffiti Bridge. Tevin has had two other hit songs from his solo albums, T.E.V.I.N. ("Tell Me What You Want Me To Do". The album was the multi-platinum album I'm Ready ("Can We Talk."). He does claim that success has not gotten to his head, although, sources do say that he has thrown tantrums.

He says "I'm still the person I was at nine, I just love singing. I was always taught to accept success humbly and thank God for my success and know that He is the only reason I received it. That's what my mother taught us." Tevin's success can grow even more if he considers acting as a second career, which he will try. He is the fifth African American to do a song for a Disney movie. The others are the late Pearl Bailey (The Fox and The Hound), Geoffrey Holder (The Little Mermaid), Peabo Bryson, and Regina Belle (Aladdin). He does the soundtrack to the new movie A Goofy Movie and the voice of one the characters, Powerline. Not bad for someone 19 years old with talent and respectability. He took time off from the release of his second album to finish school and graduate with his friends. After that he began work on his third album, Back to the World. He worked with Puffy Daddy, Rahsaan Patterson and co-wrote some of the songs on the album. The album was released and reviews of it were very postive. To promote the album Tevin appeared on shows including the WB's The Parent Hood in a brief cameo. He even appeared on an episode of Moesha. He recently appeared on Paul Anka's "A body of work" album with the song "1 Kiss". He released his fourth album and the single "Another Way" in November. This would be the last album Tevin would do for Warner Brothers. He is now working on his fifth album while looking for a new record label to work with.
