Deon Richmond

Deon Richmond is no newcomer to the world of show business. By the time he was 11 months old, Deon was already an old hand appearing in TV commercials and advertising campaigns. The Young Artists Awards nominated Deon as Best Supporting Young Actor for his role in “Sister, Sister”, the WB TV show that ran for five seasons and projected him into TV stardom. He most recently starred as the lead role in the movie, “Trippin”, for October Films, and is currently starring in “Scream 3” for Dimension Films, with David Arquette, Courtney Cox and Neve Campbell.Born in Manhattan on June 2, 1978 Deon’s mother had no difficulty in placing her baby’s photogenic talent in one advertising campaign after another. Encouraged by his obvious gift, his mother and father enrolled him in New York’s Professional Children’s School, where he studied music and drama, in addition to the regular curriculum. During this time he was constantly working in commercials and TV shows.While at PCS, he landed a plum role in NBC’s “The Cosby Show” playing ‘Bud’, the precocious boy next door to the Cosby family.By the time Deon was 8 years old, his professional interests were well focused when he appeared in the feature film “Raw”, playing Eddie Murphy as a child. Back to school he continued to combine his studies with regular performances on TV. At the age of 11 Deon was cast in Spike Lee’s movie, “Mo’ Better Blues”, playing Wesley Snipes as a child opposite Denzel Washington.A TV movie followed with NBC’s “Child Saver”, positioning Deon in a lead role with Alfre Woodard and Mario Van Peeples. He also co-starred in the ABC mini series “Desparado”, receiving critical attention for his performance.At the age of 14, Deon and his family (mother, father and three sisters) moved to Los Angeles, where Deon was a series regular in ABC’s “Getting By”. The series featured Merlin Santana, his former costar from “The Cosby Show.” The series was a hit for ABC, but when they offered the series a timeslot on Saturday, the producers moved the series to NBC. The series only last 18 episodes due poor timeslots.He appeared in Harold Rollin’s final film, “Hallelujah” (1993) as Nat Crawford and it also featured Merlin Santana.Deon had now built a strong following with fans as well as a solid reputation within the entertainment industry and he next went on to co-star in the ABC TV show “On Our Own”. Deon was attending Fairfax High School and transferred to Chatsworth to graduate.He played a recurring character in ABC’s “Hanging with Mr. Cooper”, during the series second season. In 1997 joined the cast of Warner Brothers hit TV show “Sister, Sister”. As a series regular he plays the role of ‘Jordan, one of the sister’s (Tamara) boyfriend.He was the Coffee Boy in Tony Singletary directed comedy “24/7 Radio”. Now, a handsome six foot tall young man with lots of personality and strong ambition, Deon attends the American Film Institute studying a writing and film course, which is another direction in the business he plans to pursue.When he is not working or studying, he likes to relax listening to music, enjoys reading, playing video games and is active in all sports. His main loves are basketball and football, and he enjoys taking part in Celebrity Basketball games for charity. Deon lives in Tarzana with his family.He took the starring role “Trippin” as Gregory Reed, a boy with his head in clouds as he goes through Senior year in High School.He played Tyson Fox in the final installment of “Scream 3”. For the year 2001, he appeared in two movies. “Van Wilder: Party Liaison” as Mini-Cochran and the token Black guy in “Not Another Teen Movie”.
