Larry Hughes

Larry Darnell Hughes was born in St. Louis, Miss. on January 23, 1979.

He attended Saint Louis University in Conference USA. He had 40 points against Marquette and 37 in the Conference USA tournament against UAB-Birmingham. He left Saint Louis after one season.

He was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1998 NBA draft. He only last a full season and half with the Allen Iverson show. He was traded on February 16, 2000 to Golden State for Vonteego Cummings. The Warriors are the team that traded 10 All Stars away within a seven year period.

His view on the trade was getting out of a frustrating situation in Philly since he never knew when he would play.

He was sentenced to play for the Golden State Warriors, where careers are ended. See BJ Armstrong, Mookie Blaylock and Mark Price for examples. After a promising start the Warriors turned into a disaster in 2000. He was injured during the 2000-01 season as the team went through another coaching change (8th in 7 years). He went from starting for the Warriors to sitting on the bench and not playing. Which resulted in him being run out of Golden State with his contract being bought out to allow him to be an unrestricted free agent. He singed with the Washington Wizards in July of 2002.
