Walhalla's Liebestraum CD 1991-1994

Liebe was to be our foundation stud. He was the answer to my dreams in a pedigree. I like a German dog. They have lots of substance and bone to them. They have endurance that never ends. Liebe was becoming a wonderful boy. We were going to breed him to Amstel and have wonderful puppies. Apparently that wasn't to be. When he had just turned a year, we had him entered in the Great Dane Club of America specialty in San Antonio, in both breed and obedience. We had just arrived when he bloated. We managed to get him to the show vet in time to do a surgery and stomach tack. He survived. But before he was 2, just before he finished his CD, he began to not eat. I had every test run on him. Nothing was found. The last test was for cancer. Sure enough, he had lymphosarcoma of the bone. Last stage of it. He lived a month, till the medication couldn't help him eat any more. I had our Catholic Father bless him the day we let him go. To lose them so soon causes a terrible void. It still hurts to think of him. This photo is of him on the day of diagnosis. He was only just 2 years old when he left us.

Int'l, Nat'l Ch. U-CD Walhalla's Rosenkavalier CD, CGC 1995-1999

Mr. Lier was our sweetest boy we ever had. He loved to snuggle and just hang around for pets. He was half German and half American breeding. He had his National and International Championships, his Companion Dog degree as well as his CGC. He had an odd habit of standing perfectly still underneath my ponytail tree with his head outstretched. He loved to travel and stood up front so everyone could see him. He was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy just before he turned 3 years and given 3 months to live. He surprised everyone by living happily until the last day at just under 4 years of age. Please, partake in the cardio study at Ohio State (supported by the GDCA & AKC). We are glad we did. Sleep peacefully, sweet Lier...we miss you.

A beautiful Bald Cypress tree was planted in Lier's memory.

Mister Lier

My name was Rosenkavalier

My daddy called me Mister Lier

I played till I was three

with Miese, Amstel and Puppie

When diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy

They said I would go in month three

But my heart had a different plan

I had to run on the new land

Then the time came when I had to say

More pills will not save this day

It is time to go, so do not delay

We will meet again some day

Mom and dad you held me tight

As I said my final good night

Until we meet again

May peace be within

Thank you for the years

Your MISTER LIER
