JESUS G. RENTERIA SR., 81, of Ranger died March 25,
2000, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, TX.
Jesus was born on January 1, 1919 in Santarita, NM, to
Mariono and Margarita (Gonzales) Renteria. He attended
Cooper School and St. Rita’s Catholic School in Ranger.
He worked for 54 years as an oil field pumper for Pearson
Corp. He was very active in his younger years with local
baseball, helping to build little league and pony league
teams and baseball fields. He umpired college baseball
for many years. He also played semi-pro baseball. He
married Amelia Cervantez in December of 1943 in Waco,
TX. He was a WWII Army veteran.
Survivors at the time of his death were his wife, Amelia
Renteria of Ranger; three sons and wives, Jesse & Debbie
Renteria, Jr. of Sugarland, TX, Armando and Donna Renteria
of Trinadad, TX, and Ronnie and Christy Renteria of
Sugarland, TX; five daughters and husbands, Adella and
Larry Harris of Fort Worth, Gloria and Edward Nunez of
Possom Kingdom Lake, Eloisa & Winston Grayson of Sulphur
Springs, Elvera and Glenn Nickell of Coleman Quinn
Robinson of Mineral Wells, 20 grandchildren, 25 great-
grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
WIFE: AMELIA CERVANTEZ RENTERIA, 84, of Weather-
ford, TX and formerly of Ranger, went to be with her Lord
on March 5, 2009. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery in
Ranger, TX.
Amelia was born Sept. 2, 1924, in Temple to Arnulfo and
Juana Garcia Cervantez. She married Jesus Renteria in
December of 1944, in Ranger; he preceded her in death in
2000. Amelia provided child care for many children in
Ranger for several years. She loved her plants and was
known to have a green thumb. She was very supportive of
charitable organizations and was a member of St. Rita's
Catholic Church in Ranger.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters.

(RHS-1965) of Fort Worth, Gloria Nunez (RHS-1967) of
Mineral Wells, Elvera Nickell (RHS-1968) of Coleman,
Armando Renteria (RHS-1969) of Kemp, Eloisa Grayson
(RHS-1971) of Sulphur Springs, Esther Robinson (RHS-
1975) of Brock and Ronnie Renteria (RHS-1983) of
Rosenberg; brother, Emilo Cervantez of Waco; sisters,
Mary Ann Tovar of Waco and Janie Sepulveda of Robinson;
22 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; four great-
great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
