DON T. MARTIN, 89, died on Dec. 21, 2003. Don
was born Jan. 11, 1914, in Stamford, TX to Victor
& Hattie Martin. He married Betty Jo Simpson in
June of 1939 in Matador, & they lived in Hereford
since 1946.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Don graduated from Stamford High School & received
his bachelor of science degree from East Texas
State University in Denton. He also received a
master's degree from West Texas A&M University in
Canyon.
He was a coach, high school principal, a junior
high principal and a counselor. He worked for the
Hereford Independent School District for 29 years.
He also sold crop hail insurance for many years. He
was on the Ranger High School faculty at Ranger, TX
in 1944-1945, probably the coach, but full records
are not available during that time.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a
sister.
Survivors at the time of his death, include his
wife; a son, Fred David Martin of Georgetown; a
daughter, Nancy Jo Cwelich of Erie, CO; a sister,
Fay Pundt of Houston; six grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
