Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1949

The Class of 1949 held a reunion dinner on Saturday night of Homecoming   
2002 to observe the 53rd anniversary of their graduation. Forty classmates,
their spouses and guests attended.  June Ann Morton Bryan and her husband, 
Boyce, headed the Reunion committee. R. C. Smith was master of ceremonies.
John Carver, the author of Winning and other books was the guest speaker. 
Other honored guests included Coach Stubby and Juanita Warden, Dr. Morris 
Baker(Class of 1957), Lorene Oliver, who taught at Young School 4/5 grades
when some 49er classmates attended there, Jerrie Bowen and Dale Jones and 
Buddy Hamrick, adopted 1949ers from the great Class of 1950. Janie Hilliard
and Louvern Alexander Bell attended the Homecoming and festivities for the 
first time since their 1949 graduation.  Other guests included  Louvern's 
daughter and granddaughter, Becki and Jullian Bowen  and Janie's guest,   
Winnie Williams.                                                          

The dinner was catered by Camilla Gordon Adams, a classmate who manages/ 
operates H.G. Adams Grocery and Catering with her son, Bobby Adams.  An 
auction was held with Jack Waddington as the auctioneer, assisted by Pat 
Smith and several hundred dollars were donated to the Ranger College    
scholarship fund in appreciation for use of the Senior Citizen's Center 
for the occasion where a 1949er breakfast was also held on Sunday morning
when the Reverend Meredith Sides gave a marvelous and loving talk to his 
classmates over a scrumptious breakfast provided by the Senior Citizens 
Center staff and hosted by Jane Hardy Blacklock.
