MARY ANN ELDER MARA, 77, died Aug. 6, 2013 in
Abilene, TX, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery at
Ranger, TX.
The daughter of Josie (Clemons) & J.W. Elder, Sr.,
Mary Ann was born on Dec. 22, 1935 in Valley Mills,
TX, & graduated from Ranger High School in 1954.
She was a homemaker, having married Bob Mara in
Nov. of 1953 in Ranger, TX. She was a member of
Southwest Park Baptist Church in Abilene.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five
brothers, John William Elder, Billy Ray Elder (RHS-
1943), James Edwin Elder (RHS-1940), Sammy Lee Elder
(RHS-1948), and Dean Elder (RHS-1950).
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Bob Mara of
Abilene; daughters Twanna Cooksey & husband Larry
of Grand Junction, CO, and Talena Mara of Garden
Grove, CA; two grandchildren, Amberlee Cordeiro
& husband Guy of Grand Junction, CO, and Arlenda
Newsom & husband Brad of Frederick, CO; and four
great-grandchildren, Kyle Lemley, Cade Cordeiro,
Kinley Newsom, & Kaitlyn Newsom.
HUSBAND: B.T. "BOB" MARA, 82, died Feb. 21, 2016
at his home in Abilene, TX with burial at Evergreen
Cemetery in Ranger, TX.
The son of Pearl (McGuire) & John E. Mara, Bob was
born on Feb. 8, 1934 in Chico, TX, and graduated
from Chico High School in Chico. He worked for
Halliburton Energy Services for 34 years and
continued working as an oil and gas consultant
for the following 20 years. He married Mary Ann
Elder Mara (RHS-1954) in Nov. of 1953 in Ranger,
TX. He was a member of Southwest Park Baptist
Church in Abilene.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents,
a brother, Raymond Mara, and his sister, Donelda
Brooks.
Bob is survived by his daughter Twanna Cooksey
& her husband Larry of Grand Junction, CO, and
daughter Talena Mara of Garden Grove, CA; two
grandchildren, Amberlee Cordeiro and husband
Guy of Greensburg, PA and Arlenda Newsom and
husband Brad of Camas, WA; and four great-grand-
children, Kyle Lemley, Cade Cordeiro, Kinley
Newsom, & Kaitlyn Newsom.
