Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1953

Dorothy Ogden DOROTHY VIRGINIA "JENNIE" OGDEN EWING, 73, of Ranger, TX passed away on July 10, 2009 at her home, with burial in Merriman Cemetery near Ranger. Virginia “Jennie” was born on June 20, 1936 in Ranger, TX to Bill Joe & Nancy (Fox) Ogden. She grew up in Ranger, TX & attended Ranger schools. She married Marion E. Ewing in March of 1952 in Ranger, TX and he preceded her in death on May 25, 2004. Jennie worked for First State Bank now known as First Financial Bank for 18 years as assistant cashier. She also loved to bowl and owned and operated the Eastland Bowling Alley. Jennie attended the Second Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents Bill & Nancy Ogden and a brother Billie Joe Ogden Jr. At the time of her death, Jennie was survived by her son Michael Ewing (RHS-1976) of Ranger, grandson Robert Ewing and wife Jacquetta of Ranger, great-grandchildren T.J., Ricky, & Makaela Ewing. HUSBAND: MARLON "JIM" EWING, 77, died in Ranger, TX on May 25, 2004, with burial in Merriman Cemetery near Ranger included full military honors. The military honor guard from Fort Hood presented a U.S. flag to his wife of 52 years. Mr. Ewing was born on Sept. 11, 1926 in Throckmorton, TX, the son of Earl & Oma Jean (Hannah) Ewing. He was a graduate of Phillips, TX, high school. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean & Vietnam Wars. He attended Texas Tech. He married Dorothy Virginia Ogden (RHS-1953) in March of 1952 in Ranger. Mr. Ewing came to Ranger from Sweetwater in 1974. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for GE Railcar. He was affiliated with the Second Baptist Church. Mr. Ewing is survived by his wife, Dorothy Virginia Ewing of Ranger; son, Michael Ewing of Ranger; sisters, Betty Ewing Cross of Sweetwater and Sue Ewing Cook of Wichita Falls, both of the Class of 1953; grandson, Robert Ewing of Ranger; great-grandchildren, T.J., Ricky, and Makaela Ewing, all of Ranger; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Oma Ewing. Billie & Nancy Ogden PARENTS: BILL J. & NANCY CORRENE FOX OGDEN celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in July of 1988. He was born May 14, 1911 in Lone Cedar & Nancy was born June 22, 1913 in Alameda Community. They were married in July of 1928 in Pleasant Grove. They lived in Eastland County their entire life. They were in business for over 41 years in Ranger as owners of the Ogden Laundry & Car Wash. He later worked for the Ranger Police department. Bill died in Ranger on Aug. 5, 1996, & she died in Ranger 3 days later on Aug. 8, 1996. They had a daughter, Dorothy Virginia Ogden (RHS-1953) & a son, Billie Joe Ogden, Jr. Billie Joe Ogdon, Jr. BROTHER: BILLIE JOE OGDEN, JR.,78, of St. Charles, MO & formerly of Olden, TX, passed away on Sept. 30, 2008 in St. Charles. Burial was with full military honors in Merriman Cemetery near Ranger, TX. Billie was born on Jan. 14, 1930 in Ranger, TX, to Bill Joe and Nancy (Fox) Ogden. He grew up in Olden and was a graduate of Olden High School. Billie met & married Virginia "Jenny" Wright in April of 1951 in Electra, TX. Billie is a 30 year retired U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sergeant, travel- ing to many exotic places during his military career. After retirement he and Jenny settled in St. Charles. Billie was a member of the Oak Ridge Baptist Church, American Legion and the 5th Regiment Communications Group Korean War Association. Billie was preceded in death by three children; Becky, Randy, and Anna, as well as his parents, Billie Joe and Nancy Ogden. Benny is survived by his wife, Virginia "Jenny" Ogden of St. Charles, MO; a son, Ron Ogden & wife Wendy of Woodenville, Washington; 2 grandchildren, Any and Becky Ogden, a sister, Virginia Ewing of Ranger; 1 nephew, Mike Ewing (RHS-1976) of Ranger; 2 sisters-in-law, Nancy Trout of Eastland and Mary Jeffus of San Antonio.
