Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1944

Clara Russell Arterburn CLARA FAYE RUSSELL ARTERBURN, 95, daughter of Roy & Pearl Russell, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2023. She was born in Ranger, TX on May 17, 1927. She attended St. Regis Catholic Church in Ranger and then graduated from Ranger High School in 1944, where she met her husband, Walter Arterburn (RHS- 1942), who passed away at age 69. Clara is survived by her brother, Bill Russell; and her sister, Mary Ponder, who is a resident of Bryan-College Station; and her two sons, Terry & Stephen Arterburn. Walter was in the U.S. Navy and that caused them to live in Bellingham, WA and San Jose, CA before settling back in Ranger where they lived until 1959 when they moved to Bryan, TX. Clara graduated from Bryan School of Cosmetology in 196 and although discovering she was allergic to hairspray, owned and operated 3 Successful Beauty Salons. She was a dedicated Christian with a strong faith that served her well through many hard times. She & Walter worked with young married couples at the First Baptist Church of Bryan, Texas & influenced hundreds of couples with their dedication & commitment to be there whenever any of the couples were struggling. It is said of Clara that if she is not in heaven, no one is going to be there.
