Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1940 RJC

D.C. Arterburn D.C. ARTERBURN, 94, of Amarillo, passed away on April 6, 2017, with burial at the Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, TX. D.C. was born July 30, 1922 in Stuart, OK to Ernest Forrest & Margaret Leoma Arterburn. He attended Ranger High School at Ranger, TX in the Class of 1940 & grad- uated from Ranger Jr. College. He then proudly served in the U. S. Coast Guard during WWII. He spent all his time on a destroyer escort traveling from Iceland to Cuba. He married Dorothy Lewis (RHS-1946) in Lubbock in June of 1957. They moved to Amarillo in 1963 and he went to work for Detroit Diesel as a parts man & retired from Jack B. Kelley in 1987. He was a member of Pleasant Valley United Church since 1963, serving in various positions. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, W.J. Arterburn (RHS-1942), L.P. Arterburn (RHS-1945), & Ernest Arterburn (RHS-1940). He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Amarillo; one daughter, Kim Arterburn of Houston; one son, James Crossley and wife, Jennifer of Shertz; one brother, E.F. Arterburn Jr. (RHS-1945) of Lubbock; one granddaughter, Amy Phillips and husband, Kale; and four great-grand- children, Judson, Jedd, Jensen and Jenks Phillips, all of Amarillo.
