Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1935

Covis Crawley COVIS WILSON CRAWLEY, 96, left to be in the arms of his Lord and Savior May 21, 2015. He was a strong generous, wonderful man dedicated to living life at its fullest. He was a loving husband, father, grand- father and great-grandfather. Burial was at Simpson Cemetery. C.W. “Red” was born on Aug. 20, 1918 to Newton Christopher Crawley & Mattie Bertie Kinman Crawley on a farm in Eastland County, TX. He grew up working the farm until his graduation from Ranger High School in 1935 at Ranger, TX. He majored in mechanical engineering & business at John Tarleton Agriculture College, part of the Texas A&M system. After graduation he married Pauline Moore, who was his love for 72 years of marriage. He worked with WalkerSmith Wholesale Grocery, American National Insurance and Globe Aircraft before starting his life long career with Ralston Purina. With Purina, he, Pauline and his children moved frequently & made many wonderful friends at each new location. When he retired from Purina, they returned to Ft Worth/Arlington to be near family. He consulted with ADM for a time after retirement. He maintained friendships from high school & from Purina as a member of the Ole’ Timers. Covis and Pauline were very active in Meadowbrook Methodist Church-God, family and friends were their priorities. He was a volunteer in the Computer Users Group at TCC Senior Education Department and served on the Senior Advisory Board of the SE Campus of Fort Worth. He felt he should “never pass up the opportunity to help a person today do better than he did yesterday.” His smile, laughter, guidance, wisdom and love will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. At the time of his death, he was survived by his son, C. W. Crawley, Jr. and wife Nancy of Hurst; daughter, Paulette Dodgen and husband, John of Arlington; six grandchildren, Christopher Crawley, Monica Cogburn, Kimberly MacDonald, Joshua Crawley, Staci Keamey and Jeff Dodgen; 19 great-grandchildren, niece who provided much support, Sharon Henderson and husband, Paul; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews. We love you Dad and Grandad! He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, his parents, 4 brothers Harlen Crawley (RHS-1936), Jack Crawley, Purvis Crawley, & Jimmy Crawley.
