    Abstract
In this course, students are introduced to information systems and the concept of using information systems for competitive advantage. This course consists of two complementary sections.

Maintaining competitive advantage requires organizations to move accurate information to the appropriate place at the appropriate time. In technological terms, this requires a network. Because networking technology is changing rapidly, an information system professional needs a first hand knowledge of networking technology. Consequently, the first section of class focuses on networking technology.

The second section presents conceptual aspects of information systems management. Included here is an introduction to Information Systems as well as to related constructs such as Porter's Competitive Model.

Where appropriate, both sections may be supplemented with outside readings, case studies, and panel discussions.

The inclass Syllabus contains information concerning my office hours, the evaluation process, and my expectations. If you would didn't get a copy the first day of class, you can download it here.
