The Chevrolet Silverado is in my opinion the best 1/2 ton pickup on the market today. It may not have Dodge's straight axle, but it more than makes up for it in engine and transmission design, performance, and durability. The Silverado was good to me as I learned another aspect of offroading - sheer power. The Silverado didn't need speed, just a steady foot on the gas, and it could get through anything (provided it would fit). It had almost as much horsepower (325) as both of my Defenders combined. Here are some shots of it in action - enjoy.

The Silverado days after delivery. The vehicle was actually stock for quite awhile. That's a mistake I'll never repeat.

Here's the Silverado with its 4" Rancho kit. I finally managed to run 33's and what did I do? I said screw it, got a body lift, and threw on 35" SSRs

The Silverado in Alto, Texas, over Labor Day Weekend 2000. The competition pictured is the sled pull.

From the LHOR trip to Llano, Texas in September 2000. This picture was taken just as I was pulling in to cross the water.

Okay, now I'm pretty deep. Still, at a point I had water past the hoodline.

A B&W glamour shot of the Silverado just before she got traded in - November 2000.

Screw glamour, I couldn't take the Silverado out into a field for the last time and NOT offroad.
