The Important Things in Life

No matter who you are or what you do, you are destined to encounter problems. I have chosen to explore the problems I have run into most often, whether in my life or the lives of my family members, friends, or acquaintances. Those are the annoyance of spam and the danger of scams on the Internet; the soaring costs of staying healthy or treating illness; the unhappiness, boredom, and depression that accompany idleness or meaningless work; and the strange longing for something or someone "greater than you and me".

Now, this might seem a monumental task for a 58-year-old, married, self-employed mother of 2 and grandmother of 7; however, much of the work has been done by others to whom I will refer you. Of course, I'll give you my opinions along the way, but since many people might question the expertise of 58 years of experience, and especially since my 58 years of experience may be different from yours, the links to the "experts" from whom I've gathered significant knowledge are here as well.

You know, the big deal in business is the almighty college degree. If you don't have the paper, not only will it be impossible for you to find any kind of executive or managerial position--or even executive assistant position--it is also quite possible that you will lose your present position to someone who has the paper. I've seen it happen . . . many times. At the very least, even though you already know the ropes and are good at what you do, someone with a degree will eventually be promoted over you, and you will be forced to train him/her to do his/her new job.

I may not have a degree in these subjects, but I do have a wealth of personal experience, relatively high intelligence (my SAT scores were in the upper 15%, though I married instead of enrolling in college), and a well-developed sense of logic. Much of what I tell you I have lived and therefore know to be true. It is not some theory I read somewhere. In fact, my recent research and reading of "expert opinions" in these fields has made me realize that I am an expert. As I cruise the web for information, I find corroboration of what I've already figured out on my own. Imagine that; experience IS the best teacher! On the other hand, there's no law that says YOU can't learn from MY experience.

Consequently, this site will be growing with articles and links as I share my not-all-that-hard-learned expertise with you and hunt up the "experts", the best methods, and the best deals in these areas. It's mostly just clear logic, but the experts tend to corroborate that logic and experience are just as good as any degree, at least when it comes to dealing with these subjects.

So when you want to know what's what in these four areas, come back here (bookmark this site) and see what experience and the experts have to say. Oh, yeah. If you happen to click away from this site using one of the links at the top or extreme bottom of this page before you have finished checking out all of this site, use your back button to return here.
