Simple Pleasures for the Bathroom

Sometimes, the bathroom is the only place in your whole house that you can spend time alone with yourself, and not feel guilty about locking the door. Try some of these relaxing activities the next time you're looking for an escape from your life, or just when you need a little daily lift.

1. Take a Shower in the Dark
If you take your shower very early in the morning, and you have a window in your bathroom, don't turn the lights on when you go into the bathroom. Spend a little time just standing under the water, and pretend that it's moonlight. Think about something pleasant. Pray a little, if nothing else comes to mind.

2. Eat Dinner in the Bathtub
Light some candles, pour yourself a glass of wine and have a light dinner in a bubble bath. Read a book and don't come out until you feel like it (have your significant other join you if the tub is big enough, or send him away with the kids if you have them).

3. Make an "I like" List on your Mirror
Best if you don't share your mirror or if your spouse doesn't mind. Use on overhead pen to write down everything you like about yourself. Preferably in a corner so you can still see in the mirror. Whatever you do, DO NOT write anything negative. Read this every morning while you're fixing your hair, or brushing your teeth.

4. Paint the Tiles with Soap
Colored soap can be bought in just about any store, though usually it's labeled for kids. Or you can simply paint in soap bubbles. Shaving cream works too. Let your imagination go wild, or just play with the foam on the wall of the tub, or on the tiles. Be creative. Try writing your name, or drawing yourself if you can't think of anything.
