This is some of what I hope to sort out with this site. God has a much bigger plan for us than what we have for ourselves. This plan is all laid out in the Bible. Many people believe that when you die, you just automatically go to HEAVEN. There is this sort of unwritten code out in the world. Many live they're lives by this code. This code however has a problem,it is a man made code that did not come from God. This code or belief is that as long as you were a pretty good person, God will allow you into Heaven. Many people believe that as long as they don't rob or kill someone, then they will go to Heaven. If you were to die tomorrow do you know where you would go. Do you just take it for granted that you will go to Heaven. The Bible teaches that no one will go to Heaven without a Savior. The only Savior that the Bible offers is Jesus Christ.
People think that as long as you don't commit one of the real bad sins that you will go to Heaven. The Bible does not teach this at all. In fact the Bible teaches that you could never be good enough to get yourself into Heaven. The Bible says that your best efforts at being good are as filthy wrags to God. The Bible says that all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God. The only way that we can come into the presence of a Holy God is to be sinless. You are probably asking what this has to do with needing a Savior. Well the deal is, you and I have blown it. The Bible says that the penalty of sin is death. Our sin goes all the way back to Adam. When He sinned in the garden, God looks at all who came after him as having sinned. Even though we were not born yet, because Adam sinned and we were still in Adam, we are seen as sinners.
This is where the need for a Savior comes in. Without a Savior we will die and be eternally seperated from God(spend eternity in Hell). Jesus came and lived a perfect life without sin. He was born of a virgin, He lived a sinless life, died on the cross and rose from the grave. The Bible says that Jesus lives today and is at the right hand of God. Now because Jesus lived a sinless life and died on the cross, you and I can be saved from death by accepting Him as our sin bearer. Jesus died on the cross in substitution for you and I. Salvation then, is when you and I accept Jesus as our sin bearer. This is a gift from God, you can't do a single thing to earn this. This gift goes out to all who will accept it. It does not matter what your past life has been like. All of your past sins will be forgiven you. I don't care what you have done. Murder, homosexuality, adultry,etc... Even if you are caught up in an ongoing sin such as drugs, homosexuality, sexual immorality, God can free you from these things.
You may be asking at this very moment, "How do I do this"? All you have to do is accept Jesus as your sin bearer. You can do this right where you are sitting. You don't have to be in a church or go down to the front of a church in order to be saved. That has nothing to do with getting saved. As a matter of fact if you claim to be a believer and the only basis you have for that is a walk down a church isle, you may not be saved. It's not the walk down the isle that gets you saved it is what has happened in your heart. God knows your heart. He knows whether or not you have really come to realize that you are a sinner and without a Savior there is no chance for Heaven. He also knows whether or not you really believe this or if you are just saying you do. It is not necessary, but I would suggest getting down on your knees before God and telling Him you have come to realze that you are hopelessly lost and you need His Son Jesus. Tell Him that you accept His free gift of Salvation.
If you have done this, then I congradulate you on your new life. You are a Christian now. God wants us to grow and learn His plan for us. The only way to do this is to study His Word daily and learn to live out in our lives the things that the Bible teaches. This will not happen supernaturally over night, it will happen throughout your Christian life through study and application. If you have not accepted Christ, I pray that God will call you to conviction. You cannot enter into Heaven without Christ. You don't know if you have tomorrow or not.
