Q : Do you think Mario touring with Smashmouth is good or a bad sign concerning the release of their new album?

I think that whether Mario's touring with Smash Mouth or not, it seems he's antsy to get on the road, which is a good thing. Plus I think he's likely already laid down the drum tracks for the new Wallflowers album anyway. ~ Heidi

Q : In light of Mario's recent tour with Liz Phair, what other artists would you like to see Greg and/or Mario perform with during their free time? (whether it's playing on another artist's album or touring with them as their drummer or bassist)

I'd like to see Greg with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, and Mario with the Beastie Boys!! ~~Heidi

I think Greg or Mario should tour with Springsteen. They've already worked with him, and a solo artist needs a back-up band. Plus, their sounds go well together. -Raven

I'd like to see Greg with Sarah McLachlan. Since Sarah's husband is already the drummer, I don't think Mario would be able to "help out" (sorry, I'm sure he's crushed now!). I just like Sarah Mc, and the Wallflowers, and think it would be cool to see a Wallflower play with her! - Katie

Q : If Mario and Greg knew how to play each other's instruments, would you like them to interchange the drums for the bass and the bass for the drums from time to time? For example, Mario playing the bass and Greg playing the drums in a concert.

I, personally, think that Greg and Mario should stick with their specialty while performing (as opposed to messing around), for the sake of the music. Besides, if they switched places up on stage, I'd just get confused! ~Raven

I would like to see Mario and Greg occasionally play the others instruments if they knew how to because then we could get to see Mario closer at concerts...And wouldn't you just die to see Greg doing a drum solo? Q : With talk of the upcoming album increasing every week, what kinds of changes would you like to see in the Wallflower's music? Faster songs? Quieter songs? Heavier drums? More bass features? More solos on each instrument?

I'd like to see a comb. of some nice quiet songs mixed with some heavier upbeat sounds as well. I'd also like to see Mike have a few guitar solos so the people at Entertainment Weekly can hang their heads in shame :) ~ Kimbo

One of the reasons I love One Headlight so much is the pounding bass line. Mario and Greg united and if you turn the song up loud enough the walls thump. I love that its like they are there beating the crap out of your walls. I want bass baby! ~ KatrinaDF@aol.com

It's hard for me to pinpoint any specific change that I want to see. Maybe I'd like for them to lose a little bit of the country twang that shows through, albeit rarely. Basically, I just hope that they keep evolving as musicians. ~ Raven

I'd like to see songs featuring the different instruments. Like a song featuring the bass. Then the next song featuring a lot of great drumming ... another song featuring some great guitar work. I like a lot of variety on albums, but I hope they have more "rockin" songs like "The Difference" this time! Let's see, what else - maybe a little experimentation with different sounds. February Poll Results....

Q : If you were given the choice of Mario or Greg as your Valentine's Day dinner date who would you pick ? Why and what kind of "special dinner" would you have? Be as detailed as possible!

I'd pick Mario. Why? For his benefit, really. Between him and Greg, he seems like the one who most needs to party (I'm pretty sure Greg can handle that himself). Anyway, I would take him on a "goof-off" excursion. We'd each throw on a pair of jeans and a T-shirt and meet up at the mall. We'd catch a flick (the bloodiest one there) and swing by the bookstore to pick up some entertaining literature for ourselves (I'm curious as to what he finds "interesting literature"- I'd just pick up a Star Wars or X-Files novel). Dinner would consist of pizza (I'll let him pick the toppings) and an ice cream cone for each of us (I'd let him pick my flavor, because I'll eat anything that's ice cream). During the whole time, we'd talk about whatever came to our minds. I wouldn't ask him much about his work, though- this trip is all about fun, and how many people find it fun to constantly talk about their jobs? After about five hours, we'd say our good-byes, and I'd tell him to give me a call whenever he wants to waste some more time and enjoy doing it. ~Raven

Ok, this is something I just happened to have thought about in painstaking detail so I'll gladly share. I would have Greg over for dinner, because he seems like he would most appreciate a home cooked meal and be the easiest to talk to with food in my mouth :) I'd begin with a fresh Greek Salad, which I would serve as he popped open a bottle of wine. Either Gamay Bougelais or Chianti, he'd choose. Then for the main course I'd make a tender pot roast, cooked with steamed potatoes, carrots, & celery. After dinner we'd go out onto the porch, and sit in one of those swinging benches and finish off the bottle of wine under the stars, as we talk the night away. Then it would get a little chilly, so we'd get up to go in and--whoa, we hadn't realized how the wine had hit us until we stood up--so we'd go in and lay on the couch with a warm blanket over us and watch an old black & white movie (it doesn't matter which one cause we'd fall asleep midway anyway) and we'd feed each other the dark chocolate almonds that he'd brought me because he knew they were my favorites--until we fell asleep right there in my living room together, cozy as can be. ~Heidi

My valentine's date would be Greg. I chose him because he's one of my favorite Wallflowers. Greg and I would go out and eat at an expensive Italian restaraunt. Of course we would feed each other, whisper romantic words to each other, and then leave to go spend an evening looking at the stars. ~Dorothy Annette

Q : Which Wallflower songs or covers do you think really highlight Greg's great bass playing and/or Mario's awesome drumming?

I think that "One Headlight" "Won't Get Fooled Again" and Tracks of my Tears" greatly highlight Greg's great bass playing. As for Mario I'd have to say "Won't Get Fooled Again" and "The Difference" ~Vanessa

Well, I don't pretend to be a musician, just a music fan, so I'm obviously not very good at picking out certain instruments. However, I'd have to guess "Laughing Out Loud" and "The Difference" for both Greg and Mario, if only because the songs have that rockin', get-up-and-dance quality. ~ Raven

I think they both shine in the cover I've heard of "Tracks of My Tears". ~ Kris

I think they both sound awesome on "Won't Get Fooled Again". For Greg specifically, I think "Bleeders", "One Headlight", and "Angel On My Bike" also feature some great bass playing. ~ Charlotte

Q : If Greg or Mario would happen to leave the band would you still continue to follow their career even if they go to another band? Would you still like The Wallflowers the same?

Of course I would because if it wasn't for them, there would be no Wallflowers right? The best rock band in the world is in existence because they are a "team". I couldn't honestly say that I would love them the same, because they wouldn't be the same. Now let us close our ears and pretend that we never spoke the words,"leave the band". :)~Kimbo

I would follow anything that Greg and Mario would do in their post-Wallflowers careers, AND i would continue to love whatever's left of the Wallflowers. That goes for any member of the group, actually. I hope they never break up cuz then we'd have to follow five separate careers and projects instead of following them them as a group! "I got my fingers crossed on a shooting star" that The Wallflowers NEVER break up!!! ~ Spanish*Tears

I don't want to think about them leaving!!! I love the Wallflowers just the way they are, right now. But if either Greg or Mario left, I'd have to follow their careers, at least to an extent. The Wallflowers would still be my favorite band, but it'd be a change that'd take a lot to get used to, now. Just don't ask what I'd do if Mike ever left!!! ~Nightlyre

Yes, I would still see what they were up to! I love Mario! I don't know if I would like the band the same....I like them all, but just seeing Mario on those drums makes me happy and he is so cute to watch! Not that this will ever happen (Raven crosses her fingers and prays), but I think I'd still check up on Greg and Mario once in a while. I'd still like The Wallflowers, but it'd take me a while to get past any one of them leaving. ~Raven

I think the Wallflowers as they are right now complement each other perfectly, and any change in band members would totally destroy that collective harmony. Of course, on their own, each member is capable of carrying on a successful career and my loyalty to each of them could never waver. So I would follow their careers. But The Wallflowers, to me, will always be those five perfect men we all know and love :)~Heidi

When I look at Greg I am reminded of warm fuzzy things, like teddy bears or puppies. And when I look at Mario, I'm reminded of warm summer days at the beach. ~ Heidi (WallFollower)

When I see them I am happy pappy. I love to see them in concert! Well don't we all! When I see a drumset it reminds me of Mario. We had to watch this stupid PE TV for pe, and they were talking about how dumers have to be strong, and drumming is good for you;hehe, get buff. And they talked to a guy from MB20. No Mario :( I kept thinking he would be there... And Greg is Greg, I don't know what reminds me of him! ~Victoria Calire :-)

Greg reminds me of a chicken, but I mean that in the nicest way (even though I don't really like chicken). Mario reminds me of a toothpick, for obvious reasons. ~ Raven

Q: Of all the different colored drum sets that Mario owns, which one do you like the best? (Ex: The red ones he uses in the OH video, the silver ones at the Tibetan concert or the white ones he appears with on a picture. Or the ones on the TD video etc etc etc.)

Well, I really don't know which ones I like or all the ones that he has. But I would say a Red set, I don't know why, to give the stage some birght color! but other wiseI don't care, just as long as Mario is there! :) ~Victoria Calire

Ok, I thought this question was really cheesey, but hey - I got responses!! Anyway, to answer my own question, I like it in-between long and short. Like it is in the One Headlight vid. I like it when it's spiked up a little and a little messed up. The results of this poll sure won't help you out any, Greg, (since the poll came out about even). So, I guess you'll need to keep it in between short and long so everyone will be pleased. :-) ~Charlotte
