Can we apply the 14,000 day theory to our generation?

Now we have seen that the generation of Moses was approximately 14,000 days long, and the generation of Jesus was exactly 14,000 days long. What, if any thing, does that mean for the last days generation?

For a long time many christian teachers said that the last days generation began when Israel became a nation again in 1948; however, some are now accepting the possibility that the last days generation began when Israel again ruled Jerusalem after about 2000 years of gentile rule. The time that fits the prophesy of Jesus more accurately is clearly when Jews once again ruled Jerusalem on June 7, 1967.

Jesus said:

...And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down by Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. Luke 21:24

A rediscovered key to understanding the end times.

Before we go further, we must understand one more very important part of the prophesy puzzle that has come to light in the past ten years. This is the understanding of the jewish feasts and how they apply to the first and second coming of Jesus. There have been several books written entirely on the feasts including; "Rosh HaShanah and the Messianic Kingdom to Come" by Joseph Good. A brief outline is given below:

God told Israel to celebrate seven different feasts each year.

There were three feasts celebrated, as a group, in the spring time:

(1) Passover,

(2) The Festival of Unleavened Bread,

(3) The feast of First fruits.

One feast in the middle of the year;

(4) Pentecost.

And, the last three feasts were celebrated as a group in the fall;

(5) Rosh HaShanah (or Feast of Trumpets)

(6) The day of Atonement,

(7) The Feast of Tabernacles.

God required all males to travel to Jerusalem three times a year, Spring, Summer, and Fall, to attend these feasts, and the Bible clearly says that Jesus participated in all the feasts. What has been recently understood is that four of these feasts were literally fulfilled in the life of Jesus. This has been brought to light because many jews are beginning to accept Jesus as their Messiah, and they are bringing their rich understanding of the Old Testament and mixing it with the reading of the New Testament. An outline of how the feasts were fulfilled is given below;

(1) Passover Commemorates the day Moses applied the lambs blood to the door posts of the Israelite homes in Egypt, so that the Death Angel would pass over them. In fulfillment, 1,600 years later, Jesus died on the cross, on the very day of Passover, even at the same hour (3:00 PM) that the lambs were being slaughtered in the Temple. And now, those who apply the blood of Christ to the door posts of their heart will live forever.

(2) Unleavened bread commemorates the days that the Israelites left Egypt and traveled to the Red Sea. They ate bread made with out yeast, because there was not enough time to allow the bread to rise. In fulfillment these were the days that Jesus was buried in the earth, not yet risen.

(3) The Feast of First fruits commemorates the time that God parted the Red Sea and the Israelites arose from the depths of the sea alive on the other side. Jesus arose from the dead on the feast of first fruits, what we now call Resurrection Sunday or Easter. Also remember, that Jesus is called "the First fruits of those that rise from the dead". I Corinthuans 15:20

(4) Pentecost commemorates the fifty days that Moses and the Israelites traveled from the Red Sea to Mt. Sinai where God gave them the Ten Commandments and God's fiery presence was seen on the mountain. This was fulfilled when the Holy Spirit came upon Jesus' followers, on the day of the feast of pentecost, exactly fifty days after Jesus rose from the dead.

The next three feasts have yet to be fulfilled, and most people believe Jesus will fulfill them at His second coming, because of what the feasts represent.

(5) Rosh HaShanah (or Feast of Trumpets) is the Jewish new year. According to Jewish writings, It is believed to be the day that God created the world. It is also taught that the dead will be raised on this day and the wedding of the Messiah will take place. This is also the day that many believe the "catching away of the saints" or Rapture will occur. This day is also known as the "Last Trump" because rams horn trumpets were joyfully blown throughout the land on this day. Remember what the Apostle Paul wrote:

"...We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the blinking of an eye, at the Last Trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality... Then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory." I corinthians 15:51

(6) The Day of Atonement is considered the holiest day of the year. This was the day that the High Priest sprinkled the blood on the Mercy seat in the holiest place in the Temple. This day looks forward to the day that Jesus Physically returns to the Earth to complete the redemption process.

(7) The Feast of Tabernacles commemorates the years that the Israelites wandered in the desert. During this time, they lived in tents or tabernacles because they moved regularly. Also, God's presence was seen among them as a bright cloud that shaded them by day and, a fiery cloud that kept them warm at night. God also supernaturally provided all of their food and water for those forty years. This feast looks forward to the time that we will live in God's presence, and He will care for us like a loving father.

Rosh Hashanah: 1998 - 2005

After John Zachary, determined that a generations length might be 14,000 days, he added that number of days to June 7, 1967, the day Israel again controlled Jerusalem. What he discovered seems truly amazing. The 14,000th day lands on Tuesday October 4th, 2005. This day is Rosh Hashanah for the year 2005. I sincerely believe that this is not just a coincidence that the 14,000th day is Rosh Hashanah. From our studies, we believe that Jesus will return on a Rosh Hashanah in the future, we just don't know absolutely for sure which year it will be. Now, there may be reason to believe that the year of our "blessed hope" might be 2005.

Almost 2000 years ago, Jesus said that Jerusalem would be conquered, and the Temple would be destroyed. However, Jesus also said that one day the times of the gentiles would be over, and the Jews would again rule Jerusalem, and the generation that witnesses the return of Jewish rule would be the same generation that would witness the fulfillment of all the scriptures, even those about the seven years of tribulation.

"Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. "There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. Men will faint from terror, at what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory... "I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away." Luke 21:29-33

Since we see that this last days generation will see the horrors of the seven year tribulation, and most bible teachers believe that the actively watching and praying church will be taken by Christ to heaven before the tribulation, could it be that the rapture will take place seven years earlier than October 4th, 2005. If you subtract 2,520 days, which equals seven years, from October 4, 2005 you come to November 10, 1998. This date did not seem significant to me until I counted the number of days it occurred after Rosh Hashanah occurs in that year. November 10, 1998 comes exactly 50 days after Rosh Hashanah, which falls on September 21 in 1998. This may not be significant, but remember that after Jesus rose from the dead, He spent 40 days appearing to His diciples and then on the 50th day the Holy Spirit came upon the diciples on the feast of Pentecost (Pentecost means to count 50 days). Fifty is one of those special numbers that is often repeated in the Bible. The reverse of this is also true. If you count 50 days back from Rosh Hashanah, you come to a day on the Jewish calendar that is very significant. It is the 9th day of the month of Av on the Jewish calendar. On this day, the Babylonians destroyed the first Temple in 586 B.C. Also on this day, 656 years later, the Romans destroyed the second Temple (even though they tried to spare the Temple). This day is not mentioned in the Bible as a special day, but it apparently has a great significance in God's plan.

In Conclusion

I would be last to say that I know for sure the day of the rapture or the day Jesus will return to the earth, but I do believe that christians, who are praying and led by the Holy spirit, will know with greater certainty as the season of His return approaches. I know that many people will continue to believe that the Bible teaches that we can not know the day or the hour of the rapture, and that is fine with me. I am not attempting to force change on anyone. However, If it is true that we can not know the day and the hour, we still are not limited by the scriptures from learning the year, month, or possibly even the week of the catching away of the believing church.

I also believe that Rosh Hashanah and fifty days before and after are very significant each year. Jesus might not come during the feasts, but I choose to believe, with the Apostle paul, that these feasts were put in scripture as pictures or shadows that God is using to teach us about His plan.

God made you alive with Christ. He forgave all our sins, having canceled the written code, nailing it to the cross. Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. Colossians 2:17

Christians should take note of these celebrations that God commanded. We should study them to see what God is teaching us through them, because they are pictures for us of things yet to come. Furthermore, these days surrounding the feasts seem especially significant in the years 1998 - 2005, and overwhelmingly significant as the time approaches when Israel will sign the peace treaty that was foretold long ago by Daniel.

He (the Anti-Christ) will confirm a covenant with many for one `seven' (seven years) In the middle of the `seven' (three and one half years later) he will put an end to sacrifice and offering (he will break the agreement). And on a wing [of the temple] he will set up an abomination (an idol) that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him. Daniel 9:27 (emphasis mine)

This agreement, that I believe Daniel wrote about, will be the treaty that settles who will rule Jerusalem. Will Jerusalem be governed by Jewish people, will it become the capital of a new Palestinian state, or will it become a divided city? I personally believe, from scripture and history, that this treaty will be a "land for peace deal"

and he... shall divide the land for gain." Daniel 11:39

I believe the treaty will be agreed to in principal, or possibly even be signed by Israel and other nations on a future Rosh Hashanah, or just a few days before or after Rosh Hashanah. At present, the talks over the status of Jerusalem are set for May of 1999.When this treaty is agreed to, signed, or otherwise goes into effect, I believe the scriptures teach this will mark the beginning of the last seven years of this age, and the time Jesus will come for His ready and waiting Bride. Many news commentators believe that Israel will never continue with the peace process, but the Bible says that one day they will agree to this treaty possibly even to the point of dividing Jerusalem, since the agreement will be guaranteed by powerful world rulers. In the end, it turns out to be a false peace brokered by the anti-christ himself.

Are you part of the "Bride of Christ"?

Now is the time to make sure that your life is right with God through Jesus Christ. Don't be like those who refused to listen to Noah and Lot. The people who refused to believe lost both their lives and the lives of their children, because they wanted to stay the way they were, at a time when God commanded them to change their ways. Can you point to a specific time in your life when you made a life long commitment to follow Jesus, and your relationship with Him has lead you to live a life style that God is pleased with? If you can't point to a time you decided to live for Jesus, please keep reading.

The Bible says that no one can be good enough to earn their way to Heaven, but God has made a way for us to be with Him. The Bible says that if you will put your faith in the living Jesus and his sacrificial death on the cross, He will give you right standing with God as a free gift.

If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile, the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him... for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:9, Isaiah 28:16, Joel 2:32

Only God can forgive your sins, and He says that you can only be saved by Making Jesus your Lord (The One you obey). If you have made Christ your King, you should, out of love for Jesus and His love for us, not do the things that God says are bad.

For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that we should no longer live for ourselves, but for Him who died for us and was raised again. 2 Cor 5:14

Be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us. When someone is born again by the Holy Spirit, he begins to lead a life that God is pleased with. When he sins, the Holy Spirit leads him to turn away from the sin back to trusting God to meet his needs. If someone thinks he is a follower of Christ, and he is able to sin without much remorse, or continue in sin for long periods of time, he should question whether or not he was truly converted, and he should earnestly seek God.

"But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light." Eph. 5:1

Many people may say that they don't do these "BIG" sins. However, they should be aware that Jesus was once asked "What is the greatest commandment?" He said that the greatest commandment is to "Love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength, and the second greatest is to love your neighbor as yourself" Many people think they are good people, but they are committing the worst sins by not loving God with all of their heart, mind, soul, and strength. They don't seek him daily, and they don't read His word for advice about their everyday life, and they don't even trust Him to meet their needs, but instead they look to their own strength. Furthermore, they may not be on friendly terms with their family, neighbors, or the people they work with; this is wrong. It is written "If you don't love your neighbor, who you can see, how can you say you love God who you can not see? Jesus said "If you don't forgive those who sin against you, neither will my Father in Heaven forgive you of your sins." Turn to Him and let Him cleanse you.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
