Obituarie of Isaac P. Renfro Angelina Co., Texas
Lufkin Daily News, Wednesday, 26 December 1928:
Oldest Citizen of Angelina County Succumbs During 100th Year
Isaac p. Renfro

I.P. Renfro, the oldest resident of Angelina Courty, a veteran of the Mexican and Civil wars, one with descendants residing in every section of the county and, before his demise, representing the head of five generations, passed away at his home at Renfro Prairie on Christmas Day at 2:30a.m., the end coming after a decline due to extreme age extending over a period of 12 months.

The funeral was held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the family cemetery, near the home, beneath the large grove of cedars that the old gentlemen had planted fifty years ago, beneath the shade and shodow of which he laid out his family burial ground and where his good wife had been laid to rest twenty-five years ago and where he desired his remains placed when the last dread summons had been made. Rev. W.T. Renfro, Methodist pastor of Nacogdoches, and a warm, personal friend of the deceased, conducted the funeral service in the manner desired by this ex-soldier, pioneer citizen, and farmer for the past seventy-five years.

The immediate members of the family surviving are: John F. Renfor, Huntington; A.P. Renfro, Burke; Mrs. Ann Weeks, Renfro Prairie; Mrs. Lucy Treadwell, Burke; and Mrs. Ella Spills, who resided with her father.

The deceased was born in Missouri, moving to Angelina County in childhood, and marrying 76 years ago, that ceremony being attended by Mrs. M.K. Sayers of this city, who, though only six years of age atthe time, recalls the marriage and incidents relativethereto very distinctly...

He was a veteran of both the Mexican and the Civil wars being in possession of the distinction of being the sole survivor of the first mentioned conflict living in East Texas.

He settled in early life on that portion of Angelina County later named Renfro Prairie in his honor, where he raised a family of five children, two boys and three girls...
