He's very informative, and his PowerPoint presentations make note-taking VERY easy. I actually learned things in his class. The PHY 101 labs are a waste of time though....I can drop metal balls on the floor and swing things from string at my own house for FREE!" - Student - Grade: A

Harry Downing

"He was a wonderful teacher. He really does deserve teacher of the year. He stays at school until really late just to make sure that our presentations are finalized and ready to present for out lecture. Attending class wasn't half bad either. I definitly reccomend him to anyone who wants to take physics, and I don't even like science!!!" - Student - Grade: B
"You get extra points for coming to class?!?!?! I guess I missed that day. . .and most other days. Even when I went to class, I got so bored that I fell asleep. I thought the material was interesting, and the lab was. . .well, my lab instructor was great. :) Dr. Downing is willing to help you out, even the invisible student that I was. He is really neat to talk to, and not just about Physics. He's a sci-fi nut. . .how many profs use Star Wars (clips) in their lectures? (Besides the Science Fiction prof?) The tests are supposedly from the lectures and the old tests, but I never saw the old ones so I don't know. I suppose the class was ok--I'd probably personally done better if I'd come to class and stayed awake." - Student - Grade: C

"I took this class in the distance learning room. Homework was assigned but we allways did it in class and it wasn't taken up. Tests were taken everyother week from homework. The Final was taken from questions on the test. Easy class. Easy A. I didn't take the final and got a B (I had an 89). The final is optional" - Student - Grade: B

Robert Friedfeld
"Friedfeld is an average prof who will take the time to explain each homework problem to you. He is sometimes hard to understand and the concepts take some reading to grasp. Like all Physics profs, Dr. Friedfeld has a habit of getting off task. When this happens just drop your pen and pick up the main points. Much of his class is working with diravations, make sure you have a good grasp of Algrebra. I suggest that you invest in the study guide for the course. It is like Cliff's Notes when you do not have the avalible time to study." - Student - Grade: A

"This class is very fun but you can't always understand what Ali is saying. He is a good guy, but alot of the people in my class had failing grades, I think. I thought that it was easy, except for the tests. He grades homework, too. Good Luck." - Student - Grade: B

"Ok it is bitch session time. There has never been a man that I have wanted to ...[edited out]... more than Dr. Gruebel. Let me tell you a story! The man decided to give a night exam when he never posted that there would be one. All the students agree because his last test was 72 parts and 50 min. to do it. So then he tries to get back on pace with his sylibus and lecture durring the day class time over material that is going to be tested on a few hours later. THIS IS ALL NEW MATERIAL!! When the students found this out they took their concerns to Dr. Downing, Head of the Dept. Dr. Downing talk to Dr. Gruebel about the situation. Dr. Gruebel flat out LIED to the head of the department. He said that he did not tell us that we would be tested over that information and he would NEVER lecture that day. He even went further to say that the 10 students that had concerns must have been lying to get him in trouble. How 2nd grade is that?!? Just as bad is that Dr. Downing believed him, or pretended to, and stuck by him. Well some good did come of it. He could not test over it because he knew we could catch him. It is no wonder that even the Dean of Science thinks the man needs to retire and quit causing trouble. You have no choice but to take him for 132 so your best bet is to by the study guide, teach yourself, hire a good tutor, and keep a close eye on what he does that he shouldn't." - Student - Grade: A

"Dr. Walker is ok. He is not the most interesting prof in the world but he tests easy. He put things into context that you can understand. Everyone should walk out with an A or a B if you study about an hour or two before the test." - Student - Grade: A
