"EASY CLASS!!!! Let's spell that for you...E-A-S-Y C-L-A-S-S! Even if you're an idiot." - Student - Grade: B

"He's a very nice guy, but I did NOT enjoy the class. Contrary to what you might think, this is NOT a blowoff class. He lectures straight from the book, and you can follow along. If he has guests come in and play music for you, do NOT try to slip out of class. If he sees enough people doing this, he'll chew out the entire class and YOU when class convenes the next time. Also, he'll pass around a paper to get everyones' name that DIDN'T try to sneak out and give them a few points on one of their test grades. The class was over Jazz history, and I personally found it pretty boring. Everyone has different tastes though. His extra credit opportunities are a joke. He gives you a list of outdated movies that you can rent and watch for extra credit, and you have to present the rental receipt to get the points. Unfortunately, the local video places in the surrounding area don't stock 4-5 of the 5 movies on the list! You MIGHT get lucky and find them on the American Movie Classics channel, but then you have to write a synopsis of the movie for credit. He also tells you that you can buy his band's CD for extra credit, just bring the receipt to him showing that you bought it. I'm sorry, but that seems highly unethical to me. After he told us about the CD thing, he then tells us NOT to complain to the university about it. Huh?! I would NOT take this class again!" - Student - Grade: B

"A great professor that has an extensive knowledge of jazz and blues. His extra credit is extremely liberal and the tests are not overly difficult." - Student - Grade: A

"Excellent teacher, wonderful with test, and reviews you before the test. Easy if you go to class, and attendance is mandatory." - Student - Grade: B

"If you are looking for the most closed minded, biggoted asshole, you've found him. I've never had a instructor that I have loathed so much. He makes unecessary and harsh statements about anything andeverything that has NOTHING to do with music. For example: Every class day, he reads the class clips from newspapers that he finds interesting. One class, he read us a clipping about differnet religions. This article went through every religon you could possibly think of. When he got to atheism, he asked who the most well known athiest in the US was. No one knew. So he told us. It was the woman who protested against prayer in public schools. He then proceeded to say, ".. She's pretty much dropped off the face of the earth since she got school prayer taken away. Hopefully she's burning in hell somewhere. "Hello? This is NOT acceptable. As far as the class goes, it's very easy. All you do is watch films and take notes. Before every test, he goes over the whole exam (pretty much). So, the class is simple.. if you want to deal with his mouth." - Student - Grade: A

"Boy does he like to talk. His tests are tough but if you pay attention and study an A is not an impossibility. Boring material coverage and he uses the worst set of videotapes for about 1/4 of the class periods." - Student - Grade: A

"This class is almost entirely lecture. He reads from the text and youtake notes. You are required to buy a selection of CD's which are on the tests. He plays a piece and you must identify it and the composer. Consider this classdifficult, especially for those students who have never had any musicexperience. Expect to spend a good amount of time preparing for exams to make adesirable grade." - Student - Grade: B
