Nancy Reese Wimpy letter to A J Reese dated 10/5/1863 says that "Dr Howard had seen Frank and thought it very doubtful about his recovery." UDC burial lists show a Cpl E. Mayes of Phillips Legion Co E buried in the Whelchel Family Cemetery in Lumpkin County, Ga. so it is probable that he died in Atlanta and his body was shipped home for burial

Seaborn M Robbins - Co A - Service record ends with notations after Gettysburg that he was wounded and captured BUT there are no Federal hospital or POW records, A reminiscence written in 1920 by his brother James Richard Robbins (also a member of Co A) states that Seaborn was "killed by a grapeshot through the body at Gettysburg", Highly probable that he was mortally wounded at Gettysburg and died on the field
