Warning! Most of my favorites (if not all) will in someway include Odo. Why? Because he's my favorite charactor and I find him the most interesting. SO DEAL WITH IT!
Also note these faves and hates are in no particular order
1.The Alternate
Plot:Odo,Dr.Mora,Dax go to a planet a volcanic gas turns odo into a monster and he goes rampaging around on the station. He's cured when he's lured into a force feild by burning or zapping it out of him *ouch*. Odo reconciles a little with Mora.
General Reaction: Most call this ep predictable. Me,being very bad at mysteries,never suspected the monster rampaging around on the station was Odo, but like I said..Im terrible at mysteries.
Higlights: Really love the emotional tug and pull between Odo and Mora (who I still insist is manipulative and has the potential to be at the least verbally abusive.) I also liked the whole OdoMonster rampaging the Sation although I wish he had done a little more damage just to make things more interesting.
Downsides: The B-plot. Basically an intro for Bareil because NOTHING happend. Quark gets a freind with gambling debts to invite Bariel to the station so he can distract Kira while Quark does some wheeling and dealing. Why is this such a downside (besides the fact it was boring)? Bareil firstoff is about as interesting as cold mash potatoes.But i think the most disturbing thing about him is his voice. ACK! He's creepy!I cant stand him and was very relieved when he was killed off. I know what youre thinking but I'm not an O/K fan so you can drop the argument. I just think he's got a sleezy,creepy voice. I know Odo sounds kinda weird too but hey! at least he's got personality. Besides I also hate Bariel's slacked morals when it comes to religion. He trys to potray that priest can be real lax when it comes to what they believe and that shouldnt be. Im a Christian and that sort of teaches that we religous types should me more tolerant;a direct violation of what God says.
2Shadowplay
Plot: Dax and Odo pick up strange reading on a planet in the gamma quadrant. Odo ends up involving himself in a mystery. The people on the planet are slowly one by one vanishing. It turns out the people are all holograms and thier projector is breaking down.One of the villagers is real and made the little village when the Founders took over his world. Odo is very much motivated in this ep by a little girl named Teya who likes him almost immediatly and is very sweet to him..which is somthing Odo is not used to..naturally he falls in love with the cute little girl.
General Reaction: Most people like it..Not much to complain about.
Highlights: First Ep that got me interested in DS9. What made Odo my fave charactor. I found his search for his people and his kindness to this little child moving and fascinating.
Downsides: not very many. Only complaint? very predictable. I blurted out "They're all holograms" about ten minutes into the ep.Oh and hated Dax in this ep ..she was soooo gossipy.
3.Treachery Faith and the Great River
Plot: a defected weyoun clone seeks Odo's help but eventually has to kill himself for Odo.We find out in this ep..Odo's Family is dying.We also here the famous quote "-One thing is for sure...Im going to lose".
General Reaction:Most love this ep because its a good reason to like Weyoun which is somthing I myself was also waiting for.
Higlights: Loved it! I was dying for this to happen. I just thought it would be a great plot. A weyoun who wants peace!I liked the Death scene ..I found it a little moving and nice.
Downsides: No complaints except B-plot ...like most B-plots it was unnecessary and boring. Unless youre a diehard Nog fan you wouldnt have liked it.
4. The Begotten
Plot: Quark sells Odo a little sick changling infant and Odo tries to raise it along with Dr.Mora. Odo and Mora reconcile thier problems. Sadly The Changling infant dies from tetrion radiation that appearantly wasnt completely cleaned out of its system. Poor Bashir how heart renching for him to not be able to do anything to save the infant. Odo gets his powers back when the infant absorbs itself into Odo. Odo is once again a changling. (Odo lost his powers in an ep called "Broken Link" because Odo comitted the ulimate sin in "The Adversary" when he killed a changling in defense of his freinds and himself.) Odo is left alone again..and his one-man soap opera life continues.
General Reaction: Good..i dont have much info on that though.
Highlights: I loved the idea of Changling infant for Odo. Loved the scene between odo and worf over the little changling looking like a beverage.
Downsides: None..I actually liked the b-plot in this one with Kira having the baby. Even though I dont love Shakaar he's a welcome change from that annoying Bareil.Love the scenes between O'brein and Shakaar.
1. Melora
Plot: A woman from a homeworld with no gravity joins starfleet and has to sit in a chair to function in our enviroment. She falls in love with Bashir and decides not to go through with an operation that allows her out of the chair because of her family.On her homeworld she wouldnt be able to function after the surgery.
General Reaction: Much like mine...ZZZZZ..bored. Its very boring and no one likes Melora.
Highlights: if there were any i cant remember them.
Downsides: the whole ep ..only diehard Bashir fans could like it.
2.Resurrection
Plot: "Mirror" Bariel almost lures Kira into the intedent's (mirror kira) plot.
General Reaction: My suspicion is that they feal pretty passive about it
Highlights: He's gone a the end of the ep.. to bad he didnt die twice.
Downsides: WHOLE EP! What was with Kira? She was in bed with him by the end of the day. Oh and no one thinks this is strange he's here? I dont understand how any of this ep would work
3. Profit and Lace
Plot: Quark has to be a drag queen so he can get Zek's job back.
General recation: What the heck was that? WHat were the writers thinking? Talk about a Ferengi yuckfest!!
Highlights: Quark hugging Odo and Zek popping in to say "Am I interrupting anything?".
Downsides: Quark as a female is a generally disturbing idea to begin with. Baka Baka Baka Writers!
