John's brother, Don arrived from Virginia Beach on Wednesday for the event
and stayed until the evening of the 6th. As the official representative
of the Allen brothers Don refused to leave San Antonio without leaving his
mark or in this case bird seed in the wedding bed.
Pam's sister, Leilani, her boyfriend, Ricky, and nephew Daniel also came for the event. While Don was taking pictures which you see here with his new Sony digital camera, Leilani took pictures the normal way. Hopefully we'll be able to put some of those pictures here too. It was a small group, but it was wonderful. Pam's niece Sherina, was unable to attend at the last moment. She was greatly missed.
Jonathan flew in from Charleston, South Carolina on Friday to accept the
duties as best man for the ceremony. After getting over the shock of how
his son has grown, John had a great time giving him the usual amount of
advice on how life should be lived. Jonathan has announced that he will be
moving to Jacksonville, Florida soon where he will be going to school and
spending some time with some of his relatives.
Jonathan remained with John, Pam, Kira and Brian throughout the week and all
returned to Charleston on Sunday, July 12th.
John's daughter Hannah was not able to come to the wedding, but she is
planning a trip to see her Dad later on in the summer. Hannah is working in
Hillsdale, Michigan area and is returning to Goose Creek, South Carolina to
continue her education.
The entire wedding and reception, under the direction of Pam, went off
without any problems. The small group of guests attending the service were
entertained by a wonderful three piece mariachi
band.
Immediately after the wedding the wedding party and guests boarded a dinner boat which traveled around the San Antonio Riverwalk while everyone dined. The official honeymoon was spent at the La Mansion del Rio Hotel, in their honeymoon suite. The next day, John and Pam drove back to the condo in Bandera, TX. Over the week, they saw local sights, including Sea World of Texas and The Natural Bridge Caverns. A note from Pam: My favorite part of our trip, besides the wedding and night in the hotel, was the secret swim in the pool under the full moon, at 3 o'clock in the morning. ;) ;O
