Hercules and Xena Battle For Mount Olympus

I've been putting off reviewing this for a while now, but since I recently got it on DVD (yeah, I was one of the eight people who bought it on video AND DVD), I guess it's time.

What's kind of strange, is I owned the video long before I got into Xena. I remember buying it when it came out…and I don't know why I did, but I'm glad for it!

The movie starts out with a song about The Titans and the Chronos stones.

Credits go like this: Kevin Sorbo
Lucy Lawless
Michael Hurst and Renee O' Connor
Alexandra Tydings and Kevin Smith

And I'm happy to say the music is done by Joseph DoLuca.

The first song, "Across the Seas of Time", tells a quick history of the gods.

Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert are the executive producers.

The animation is EXTREMELY crude. Especially for this day and age.

Hercules doesn't have blue eyes, does he?

And THIS Xena has too many red highlights in her hair.

And her chin is WAY too squared.

At least Gabs is definitely a blonde in this one.

Xena's chakram lays flat against her, like it's a bendy toy.

Gabs is wearing the BGSB.

Even her boots are red.

Xena's breastplate is held up with two X's, rather than the correct pattern.

And the chakram is gray and yellow.

Her armor is gray, and her breast plate is maroon and gold.

Ares doesn't resemble Ares hardly at all.

Check out how he feels up Xena's hair though!

Xena yanks it free.

Gabs has to pull Xena out of the tavern.

Xena thinks Ares is using the Brer Rabbit technique.

Iolas DOESN'T have curls.

Zeus's chariot is decorated with Z's, which is kinda cool.

Hercules can fly in this one!

Does Iolas have blue eyes?

Aphrodite makes her appearance on a clam shell.

It's hard to tell it's really Alexandra.

I love the familiar music, like that used for Hera.

Zeus talking to Ares: Xena? You'll use any excuse to get close to her, won't you?

Artemis is in this one. She's all giggly.

Ares: One of these days, Xena will come through for me. You'll see.

All the houses look like chalk drawings.

Xena's skin is gray. Gabrielle's is tan.

She doesn't wear her upper arm bands.

"Gabrielle, look out!" And Xena gives her a shove.

Who said the Titans were giant? They weren't described that way in mythology.

Were they made of rock? I dunno.

Xena tells the big dumb bad guy: No more stealing, or you'll wish he'd squashed you like a bug.

She's doing some heavy duty healing in this one.

Does Gabrielle have blue eyes?

And purple lips?

Gabs has been turned into a giant eagle by Artemis!

Xena actually frets about whether or not the bird will understand her.

Gabs nuzzles her head to her.

Xena is uh…straddling Gabs' neck.

"Fly, Gabrielle, fly!" Hee hee…that is SO funny to me!

But when you think about it, Xena sure can get around easily now!

Xena gives out a LONG battle cry.

And goers right after Ares.

Artemis puts a hand on Xena's shoulder and she hisses.

Xena tells the gods, "And next time, try asking first."

Xena starts to pull Ares up, then drops him.

Xena: You're not really welcome.

Xena doesn't carry a scabbard in this one.

I love the way she says, "It ain't over till it's over, Big Boy."

Xena and Iolas are the only ones who stayed to fight the Titans.

Zeus becomes a mouse, Artemis a rabbit, Ares a goat, and Aphrodite a cow.

Hercules laughs about it.

Gabrielle flies to the rescue of Xena and Iolas.

Xena's pissed at Hercules for leaving, and for one of his family doing that to Gabs.

Artemis is looking up Xena's skirt! I kid you not!

Xena is sitting cross-legged on the floor. When did she ever sit like that?

Then comes the awful song, "We're the Titans."

Part of the lyrics are actually, "Boom chaka laka laka."

Then Xena sings her song, "What do I do now?"

I love the song and I love her voice. What can I say?

Hercules stops and listens to her song.

Xena has dark red lips.

She puts her arms around Hercules.

Hercules, Xena, and Iolas all have good sneers going.

"Is it just me, or have these guys gotten even uglier?"

Gabs really kinda saves the day in this one.

Iolas is almost as big as Hercules.

Gabs is too easy going. "I kinda enjoyed the flying part."

All right…the foursome travel on to Corinth.

Hercules puts an arm around Xena.

Allison Wall provided the voices for a couple of characters, Tethis and Mmemosyne..

Ted Raimi was the voice of Cruis.
