Now with the teams chosen, the group get their first taste of the Mole Online.  Firstly, they are given an ultimatum by the host.  Not everyone had submitted in their profiles, pictures or passwords from last week.  Each piece of information not received by the host before the end of the episode will cost their team $5,000.  Alpha was missing Isaiah, Mike, Toni and Veronica's passwords; as well as Blake and Justin's profiles and pictures.  Beta was missing Tim's profile and pictures, Connor and Sharna's pictures; Nick and Yves' passwords and Daniel's picture and password.  Meanwhile, they receive their first challenge.

CHALLENGE ONE: DEFUSE THE BOMB

Their first challenge demands high communication and teamwork skills.  Each team is given a bomb and their challenge is to defuse it.  It takes five steps to defuse the bomb: opening a door, turning a dial, adding water, lighting a fuse and cutting a wire.  In each step there are a number of options, where only one is correct.  Each team member may only have one attempt to try and defuse the bomb by attempting to select the correct option.  Even though the teams are given the steps, there are still over 1000 combinations which could be used to defuse the bomb, with only one being correct.  But if the team can communicate, it can be done rather easily.  If one person in the team can defuse the bomb, the group wins $50,000.

The first obstacle for the team is to find the bomb.  Three team members are given the information: Steve, Toni and Veronica from team Alpha and Sharna, Tim and Yves from team Beta.  Robbie from Alpha is the first to act and tries to find out who has the bomb.

But Beta are first to get to their bomb.  Tim receives the information and realises they need their passwords for this challenge.  Tim can't remember his.  Billy is first to get to the bomb and he attempts to defuse it.  He attempts to open one of the four doors.  Success!  He opens the correct one and moves to the next step of turning the dial.  He turns the dial incorrectly and he fails his attempt.  However he knows how to complete the first step.  Sharna gives it a go but she does not know which door to open for the first step.  She tries one door and is unsuccessful.  She tries another door and is unsuccessful again.

Blake from Alpha gives defusing the bomb a go.  But instead of trying to defuse Alpha's bomb, he defuses Beta's bomb.  He does manage to open the correct door, but he didn't turn the dial in the right direction.  Mike does the same thing and tries to defuse Beta's bomb instead of Alpha's.  He gets as far as Blake.  He tries again but uses the Alpha bomb.  He manages to turn the dial correctly, but doesn't add the correct amount of water.  Now Alpha has two steps figured out correctly.  Isaiah gives it a go but hasn't communicated with the rest of the group.  He can't get past the first step on his attempt.

Daniel tries opening a door, but hasn't realised that he hasn't registered a password yet.  Natalie from Beta gives it a go and can't get past the first step either.  Someone from team Beta doesn't read the rules properly.  The group are meant to use each others failed attempts to determine how to defuse the bomb, but one person tries numerous times on their own.  They use an invalid password which is illegal in this challenge.  Nick tries the same thing and tries solving the challenge on his own.  He is able to get to the end, but only after numerous attempts.  Team Beta think they have succeeded in the challenge, but the host reminds them, they are only allowed one attempt each.  A few people in their team made numerous attempts.  Mole activity?  Who knows... but the team fail the challenge.  Dan and Connor both give it one more try but it's too late.

Steve from Alpha gives it a go.  He performs the first step correctly but there is no record of him pursuing any further.  Dave tries but can't get past the first step.  Veronica is next to give it a go.  Like some of her team mates, she practices with the beta bomb first.  She makes numerous attempts to make sure she knows every step.  She figures the entire procedure out and performs it on the Alpha bomb.  It's defused!  Alpha team looks a lot more organised amongst themselves and had a better approach to solving the challenge.  However, they have the same setback as Beta as one of their team made multiple attempts with an invalid password.  The group loses the challenge.

CHALLENGE TWO: THE COMMITTED

With both teams losing the first challenge, they know they have to work harder as a team for the next.  This challenge is called "The Committed" and will test who exactly are the committed members for the group.  There are four tasks that need to be completed.

Task 1: Take a photograph either wearing the team colour or something unusual
Task 2: Record themself singing either an original team song or a Brittney Spears song
Task 3: Draw a cartoon of either an embarrasing moment involving family or the scientific process of creating a family
Task 4: Complete all of the above options that haven't been done by any of their team mates.
There is a major catch with this challenge.  Anyone who completes a task can't complete another one.  Every time someone completes a task, they must choose someone to give an exemption to, and as a result those who are chosen to be exempt have the right not to take responsibility to complete any remaining tasks.  If the group completes all four challenges they win $75,000.  However, as four people do tasks and four people are exempt from doing tasks, it will leave one person.  That person will win a free pass to the next episode even though they had done nothing to win the challenge for the team.

The first person to react to the tasks is Alpha's Steve.  He thinks smartly and decides to do task four before anyone completes the three individual tasks.  He takes a photograph of himself wearing a plastic jacket cover on his head; he writes and sings an original team song about Alpha and draws a comic strip about how parents create a family.  Steve exempts Robbie from doing a task.  Was it a good choice?  Isaiah is the next and sings Brittney Spear's "Lucky".  He performs it well and exempts Dave from doing a task.  He decides to exempt Dave because of his performance in the challenges last series.

The teams are presented a way in which they only have to complete 3 of the tasks to win the challenge.  Everyone's commitment is tested by helping the host out in another online game he is playing.  If each team can reply to a post 40 times, they only have to complete three challenges.  However noone may post more than 6 times.  It's very easy to achieve, but will take the whole team to reach the target.

They are given a topic of "What do you think about the other team".  Tim from Beta starts by arguing how they sabotaged their team's bomb challenge and mocking their profile pictures.  Dan comes out with amusing abuses like "alpha has priority because alpha comes before beta...that's why they call it the alphabet and not the betalph" and "team alpha has alph in their team name...alf was a weird looking alien so team alpha consists of aliens!!! ...at least beta has betta...bettas are awesome fish...".  Billy posts but is more civilized.  Robbie decides to get revenge for Alpha first replying to Tim's comment about their pics "Oh and Tim, since you guys were saying how bad the pictures of our team are, then what the hell were you thinking sending in a picture of a COCK made of clay?!!!".  Steve backs him up and says "Everyone knows Beta sucks! After all, they wouldn't have gone with VHS otherwise... ;)".  Daniel spends more time talking about which team has better looking girls.  Veronica decides to point out the flaws of the Betas.

Back to the main challenge, Nick is the first person from Beta to complete a task from "The Committed" challenge.  He draws a cartoon based on the scientific process of how parents create babies.  He decides to give his team's first task exemption for the challenge to Sharna.  Beta are only 7 posts away from lowering their challenge two target, but still have a lot of work to do.  The topic of the posts are changed to "Think up a challenge you would like to do" after the posts were getting more uncivilized.

Alpha on the other hand complete more of the tasks.  Justin submits a photo of himself wearing something that is the same colour as their team colour.  It's the third task completed and he gives Toni an exemption.  Moments later Veronica sends in a cartoon based on an embarrasing moment at the DMV.  Her cartoon graphically displays her vomitting experience during her exam.  She gives the exemption to Mike.  They have only posted eighteen times on the message board, but Team Alpha have completed all four tasks successfully and have won the challenge.  They start to build their kitty with $75,000.  As they have won the challenge, someone from their team also wins the free pass to the next episode.  The person who hadn't completed a task or wasn't exempt from completing a task was Blake.  He definitely makes it through to the next episode.

Beta have one more day to complete the challenge.  They only have one task completed.  Dan sends in a picture of his most embarrassing moment involving his family.  Little does he realise it's a wasted effort because Nick had already completed the task.  The group know if they can post forty times on the message board without anyone posting more than 6 times, they only have to complete three tasks.  Scraping in some final messages before the final hours of the deadline, they manage to make 42 posts and now they only need to complete two more tasks to win the challenge.

Yves is the next to be heard from.  He completes task four and wears his team's colours, sings Brittney Spears' "Oops, I did it again!" and draws the scientific process of how parents make babies.  It's a success and now two out of the three required tasks are complete.  Daniel is the next one to respond and he takes a photo of him wearing fluffy cows on his feet.  It is unusual enough to be considered something that you don't usually wear, so the three tasks are complete.  But because there isn't just one person left over, one of the remaining few have to say one of the others may have the free pass.  Tim is the one to speak up and he says that Natalie can have the free pass.  Natalie makes it to the next episode and the group earn for themselves $75,000.

One of their main aims was to get all their information in before the end of the episode.  The host checks the results.  Everyone in both teams manage to get all their information in.  No penalites are given to the team and the kitty's stand at:

Alpha's Kitty
$   75,000
Beta's Kitty
$   75,000

The first official questionnaires are released.  Each person is asked how they have come to their conclusion about the identity of the mole:

Dave: "I have just a hunch that Steve, being so active thus far, is trying to convince us that he isn't the mole. I might be way off here, but as long as I get this questionnaire in quickly I think I will be right to go through to the next round :) I haven't really gotten to know people that well yet, and thus, It is purely a guess :) Cya next week."

Isaiah: "Well, this week was very good.  I got to learn about a lot of people.  I keep a notebook and record all my meetings with people for clues.  My top suspect is Steve, because he was acting very "moleish" when asked if he was the mole.  I think that Dave could be the mole too, because I see a BIG difference in his participation level from the first and second series.  Blake could also be the mole, because he was very quiet in the beginning, and almost lost the team a LOT of money, and his "I don't know how the host didn't get my info" didn't really add up.  Hopefully I survive :-)"

Robbie: "Actually I have two suspects. But I distrust Dave more. He did some weird things. Veronica said he got the site for the bomb. Dave has been sending me mails, but never mentioned the site. I have never seen the site. He didn't subscribe to the mailgroup because 'he didn't like those things'. And he said he was planning to just sit back and relax in this game, until he got exempted from doing a task. He then suddenly said he was actually going to do something. My other suspect is Veronica. She said she had the site, so I sent her a mail to ask it, but she didn't send it. Toni hasn't been heard of. I think she'll be eliminated."

Tim: "I have no frickin clue to this one.  I'm just playing the odds and hoping that I'll stay in the game.  I'm also sending this in early, because I think that there might be a tie for last place."

Dan: "For the questionnaire, i basically decided to split my votes amongst the people that i thought could be the mole. So far, I've noticed that the girls don't seem to be very molish. they haven't been contributing as much as some of the guys here, but if they were the mole, pure laziness would not win them the sabotage factor in the end. What I'm looking for in a mole, is pure absence that is excused or sneaky and devious ways to sabotage the group. As for connor, he has done absolutely nothing, so i hope he's the next eliminated. in this questionnaire, whomever doesn't try to place questions to many people will be eliminated. all mole activity hasn't been as prevalent as needed. we're screwing our own selves over. if the mole simply tells us all "i can't do that task because i don't have those things" then I know for sure that I would be a better mole...at least I would sabotage the group last second. that's the only way that i'm able to rule out five of the people. i've been trying to seclude both yves and tim because they've been the most active players yet. yves is too truthful and too organized to be a mole...but realizing that has caused me to think that it's near suspicious that he has that much organization. Tim seems to be my top suspect at the moment and he has personally told me suspicious things. we even came to the conclusion that we both sabotaged the group by emailing the bomb location to team alpha. and if tim IS the mole, he's doing a great job...and i'm on to him already. i've eliminated nat, sharna, connor and billy...yves is only a bit suspicious but the rest are highly suspicious. and me...i've been acting like a a-hole this past week. it's midterm week and things haven't been going greatly. it's noticeable to everyone. but that factor only makes me seem more suspicious...heheh."

Billy: "I chose daltonique soley on his comment about the top right door being WRONG, when in actuality it was right.  However; I am not really sure on his moleness so I answered the questions with like 3 people in mind.  We shall see..."

Mike: "I had it narrowed down to two people. And my other choice was more involved in trying to get everyone to participate. He doesn't seem like he's trying to get us to fail, because it's too early in the game, and that would just be obvious. He is trying to seem like he wants to win, but he is not doing a good job fooling me.(unless I am executed, then whoever it is did a great job.)

Blake: "I am VERY unsure about who the mole is.  Mike is the only one I've really spoken to, and I have my feelings about him, but I really don't know everyone else very well.  I'm mostly playing the odds on this one, and I hope it works out."

Justin: "I guess that for this questionaire it was a matter of spreading my answers over as many people as possible. I don't really have concreate proof as to the mole's identity but I do have suspecions..... I have noticed that Toni has not been taking place in any of the challenges it is logical to assume that she will be eliminated this episode...If I had to go out on a limb and guess the MOLE I would probably say it was Veronica. Although she has been very active in communicating with and organising the team it would also be very easy for her to disrupt the communication between the rest of us."

Natalie: "Its just a feeling I have. This early in the game you have to just go with your gut feeling. In our team at the moment we are finding it very hard to complete the challenge as no one has the vital equipment, so its very hard to work out who the mole is"

Sharna: "Daniel has always been two steps behind, like he is watching everyone elses movements before making his own. It is like a hawk.. and to tell you the truth i find it rather annoying!"

Yves: "Many people made mistakes in the first challenge so it is not easy to discover who the mole. It is only the first episode. The second challenge gives me no clue either. I have already done three tasks and nobody else has completed one in three days. Seems like the mole doesn't need to be active to make the team fail this challenge. Almost everyone could be the mole. I hope my teammates realise the winner of the game will be from the team with more money at the end.

Veronica: "okay i'm pretty sure it's mike based on a few clues.  he was the first person i talked to and was very eager to know the address to the bomb, which was fine, i would be too.  then he tried to defuse it, and from my understanding of what he kept saying, he did it more than once.  he kept saying he didn't, but i don't know how he'd know so much if he didn't talk to anyone else.  anyways, also, he seemed like he was trying to make us lose the second challenge as well.  but at the same time now, i'm kind of leaning towards toni.  i know that she's here, and i know that she would have had to turn into her password since we didn't lose any money.  but mike is my main guy as the mole."

Steve: "At the moment, I suspect most people.  I don't suspect Robbie, I guess the person I suspect most is either Dave or Justin.  Veronica has mole potential, so i'll be keeping a good eye on her as well.  I tried to answer the questions evenly this week in the hope I'll get to stay in and have another week to figure it all out!"

Daniel: "I am watching out for daltonic, he is very suspicious, he may seem friendly and wanting to help but i believe he has some cunning. I don't believe billywaz is the mole nor timl_33, i am pretty confident they are not, maybe thats a bad thing!

Nick: "At the moment - it's anyone's guess!!!  I don't think any mole activity has happened!!!  I just hope for the best when the eliminations come out!!"

The results are in and both teams are eager to see who in their team is going to be eliminated.  Who doesn't make it into Episode 3?
