They sat by the firelight
In the twinkling night
As they sat nursing their drinks
Listening to their thinks.
Their lives had been varied
Not quite as harried.
A new brother to love and care,
All new experiences to share.
As they sat around the firelight
Trying to figure wrong from right
They were liking their new brother
Who was like no other
They shared a laugh or two
Away the night flew.
They liked this new brother,
Whom they didn’t want to smother
They stared at each other
And at their new brother
They saw him as a friend,
A brother to the end.
Morning came quick and bright
They saw the morning light
They moved from their bed
And to the spring he led.
Fishing pole in hand
They spoke of the land
They all loved so well
And the man who fell.
They went home, elated
Welcoming him belated.
This new brother fit into the clan
And it seemed all part of the plan.
