Lady Killer
by Leona (Heathisforme)
Three bodies were in the water that day
While the brothers were gambling.
They were moving cattle
Telling the foreman to be on his way.
The foreman was at the trail stop
Not knowing the end was near.
The brother, the lass and her father
whacked him on the head top.
They thought they were going to be rich
All they found was twenty dollars.
The brothers came upon the stop
Finding there was a glitch.
The foreman never showed up, they said
And the brothers were surprised.
The young man eyes were wide
When a roll of money was pulled out instead.
They went inside and there she was
As beautiful and alluring as could be.
The brother was stricken
by her charm, his mind all a fuzz.
The family wicked had a new plan
Since the brother was enamored.
The father wanted the lass to marry
and join the Barkley clan.
They left the next day
And the brother had an idea.
The brother said he forgot his rifle
And sent him on his way.
The foreman hadn’t been there,
Afraid that he was dead.
He hoped nothing would happen
To his brother spare.
The brother was back at the stop
Finding his lady love.
asking her to the barn dance the next day
Her nod making his heart bop.
The brother took her to the river
and she was suddenly shy.
Hoping he would take her far away
As he made her soul quiver.
They drove to town for dinner
The dance not to be.
She asked him to take her home
As she was a sinner.
Discarding the
plans to wed
They prepared to kill.
The brother sat at the table
waiting to be fed.
He bent down finding a clue
about his missing foreman
Now he knew that
His lady love not true.
He was knocked on the head
by his lady love.
Drug him to the bedroom
Lying to the brothers instead.
The brothers thought about the lie
so they hid to find the truth.
Saw their brother being dragged
to the barn to die.
The brothers made a trap
To save their brother
Gunfire flew back and forth
Father and son bit the strap.
His lady love really adored the brother
and wanted to go away.
But he didn’t want her anymore
He wanted no other.
The lass was very confused and sad
He left her there
The brothers took a look at the lass
and knew the love was a fad.
