On September 6, 1968, Gene Roddenberry launched his creation Star Trek into the world of science fiction...and there are those that have been hooked ever since.
The "Original" Enterprise saw a lot of action, and in fact outlasted its sucessors, though they saw more hostile aliens than it did. A 3-year series and three movies (the first movie featuring the end of a refitting and rebuilding) saw this ship from commissioning to destruction on the newborn planet Genesis in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
