This week’s episode opens up with Boom frantically running around with a large metal device. On the way, he gets a hold of the SPD Rangers and has them all gather in the command center. Apparently, he built a radio receiver thing which picked up a message from the future (explained through some technical mumble jumble which is really impossible). The message is dated from July 11th, 2040, and it states that on July 11th, 2025 (the date this episode takes place), SPD fell. In 2040, they sent Omega Ranger back in time to aid, but there has been no response yet.
In Gruumm’s ship, Morgana trains her fighting skills, tearing up two Orangehead robots at once. She tells Gruumm of her plan to recruit Shorty, a most wanted criminal. If she succeeds, Gruumm will turn her back to Mora. The SPD rangers are summoned when Shorty starts attacking. Cruger questions where Z went, and Jack explains about how she “freaked out” after the broadcast. In some forest, Z stands against a tree in solitude. When she is contacted by Jack, she is intercepted by Morgana. The two exchange words before engaging in battle, which Morgana wins, and retreats to let Z suffer. Meanwhile, the rangers fight Shorty, and have trouble. Z regroups with them and helps them fight. Shorty calls on his robot (piloted by Morgana), which rampages the city. Kat sends the Delta Squad Megazord. Morgana uses the robot to set up some sort of metal structure in the city. When the rangers try to destroy it, they are attacked by the robot. Shorty jumps up with a large boulder and puts it in the structure. He then explains that “Devastation” will be brought to the Earth once he pushes the button to a device he holds in his hand.
Before Shorty can push the button, Shadow Ranger shows up and fights him. The rangers are knocked out of the megazord. Morgana leaves her robot to antagonize the rangers, who begin to fight with her. Morgana picks up the device and pushes the button. When the boulder is shot into the air, fireworks shoot out of it. Breathing a sigh of relief, the six rangers prepare Judgment Mode for Morgana and Shorty. When it turns out guilty, they call on the Canine Cannon, but a new force appears in front of the blast and stops it. He explains that he is Shorty’s brother, and that his name IS “Devastation”. The fireworks were a signal to call for Devastation’s help. Devastation trashes the rangers, and then retreats with Morgana and Shorty.
Later, Cruger explains how he sent out an urgent message to Galaxy Command and is awaiting a response. The rangers are explained about Devastation, Shorty, and Morgana. Being related, Devastation is literally the most wanted criminal ever, Shorty being right behind him. Morgana, they’re told, is evil, powerful, and has the imagination of a ten year old child. Commander Birdy contacts SPD and says that he cannot send any aid at this moment because it would take too long, and that SPD is on its own. The alarms sound off as Short starts attacking again. The rangers gear up and fight. They call on the Canine Cannon and fire, but he then grows into a giant. Kat, however, can’t send the runners because the repairs haven’t been completed. They’re on their own.
