Chapter Eight
“What’s so important Ian?” Lucy questioned stepping forward as she noticed the look on Ian’s face. “Lucy, I need your help in my keeping my son,” Ian explained, “Lambert has started to take him from me and I refuse to lose him. I need you to help me find a way to fight back.” “Fight back? Ian, what are you talking about?” Lucy questioned in confusion. “I’m talking about Daniel. She and Ramsey have decided to stoop to a new low in keeping him from me,” Ian informed her coolly, “and I need to be able to stop them from succeeding in their quest.” “Ian, look I don’t know what brought you here, but I think that it’s high time that you deal with this in a more professional way,” Kevin decided stepping up to his wife and placing an arm around her protectively, “given what happened earlier I don’t think you’re in a position to be fighting Eve for custody of Daniel.” “It was a misunderstanding. I was no where near as drunk as they’d written me off to be,” Ian insisted, “there was a mix-up in the lab.” “I knew it!” Lucy blurted out, “I knew that there was no way that you’d be capable of hurting Daniel and this just proves that you aren’t the bad guy that Eve tried to make you out to be.” “Exactly, which is why I need your help,” Ian continued. “It’s three in the morning, Ian and I’m fairly certain that Lucy can’t help you on this one,” Kevin grumbled wanting some alone time with his wife. “On the contrary, she may be the only one who can help me,” Ian pleaded turning to Lucy, “do you think you can spare a few minutes for an old friend?” “Well Ian, I,” she looked to Kevin placing her hand on his shoulder, “Doc, it’s only for a few minutes.” “I’m not going anywhere,” Kevin folded his arms in front of his chest, “but Ian on the other hand....” “I’m not leaving till I talk to Lucy,” Ian grumbled. “She doesn’t want to talk to you,” Kevin stepped forward. “That’s her decision to make, not yours,” Ian reminded him. “She’s not in the mood to have any discussion right now.” “I can speak for myself, Doc,” Lucy piped in, “and right now Ian seems to need some help urgently.” “Lucy,” Kevin started before reaching to her arm and giving Ian a look, “excuse us,” once he’d pulled her aside he glared at her, “what do you think you're doing?” “Hearing him out Doc because that’s what a friend would do.” “What a friend would do is stay out of whatever is going on with him and Eve. Recall the last time you and I were into a disagreement of theirs?” “This is different, Doc,” she insisted. “Lucy,” Kevin’s voice pleaded with her. “Doc, just trust me on this,” Lucy started reaching for his hand, “If Ian is about to act irrational in any way wouldn’t you rather we get to the heart of this before someone ends up getting hurt all over again?” “Lucy, it isn’t our problem,” Kevin reminded her. “I realize that, but....” she was stopped as there was a sound of tiny feet on the steps. “Mommy,” Christina rubbed her eyes, “my tummy hurts.” “Oh sweet pea,” Lucy turned towards the stairs. “I didn’t want to wake Angel, but I don’t feel very good,” Christina continued, “can you come back and hold me?” “Oh Christina, of course I can,” Lucy reached out to her, “just give mommy a second and I’ll be right up.” “Okay,” Christina nodded her big eyes turning towards Ian curiously, “mommy?” “It’s okay Christina,” Lucy placed her arm around the little girl offering up an apologetic look to Ian, “can we talk later?” “Yeah,” Ian finally nodded, “Kevin was right. It’s not really a good time now, is it?” “No, not really,” Lucy sighed, “but Ian, I promise we can talk about this further and soon.” “I’ll hold you to that Lucy,” he watched her travel up the stairs as he turned towards Kevin’s impatient eyes. “I don’t know what it is you’re planning on talking to Lucy about, but I’ll tell you up front that she’s not going to help you hurt Eve.” “Kevin, you don’t have the first clue what’s going on between my wife and I...” “Even so, I know that I don’t want my wife upset because of something you’d like to drag her into,” Kevin explained. “You should know by now that your wife doesn’t allow herself to be dragged into anything. Lucy is an incredible, highly competent, clearly capable adult that makes her own decisions.” “She’s often blindsided about those she cares for and I don’t want her wrapped up in the midst of your problems with Eve,” Kevin snapped back at him. “Really? Is that what’s bothering you Kevin? That she’s wrapped up in the midst of my problems or that she cares about me?” Ian raised a curious brow. “Get out of my house Ian,” Kevin instructed. “I was planning on it,” Ian cut back sharply before giving him a look, “Kevin, we both care about Lucy and this doesn’t have to be ugly.” “It won’t be as long as you keep your problems with Eve far away from me and my wife,” Kevin replied escorting him out of the house before closing the door on him. He looked towards the stairs thinking of Lucy’s friendship with Ian hoping that somehow she wouldn’t allow herself to be sucked into whatever it was he had planned for Eve.
“So can I get you another cup of coffee or anything?” Gabriella questioned re-entering the living room after she’d changed out of her work clothes into a comfortable pair of sweats. For a moment she’d contemplated remaining in her work clothes as she was certain it was far more appealing to Joe than the simple run of sweats, but after the week she’d had, this was just the more comfortable alternative and judging by the smile on Joe’s face, she was certain he didn’t seem to mind. “No thanks,” he shook his head slightly, “this is well enough for me. If I drink anymore of this stuff, I don’t think I’ll ever sleep again.” “Would that be so bad?” Gabby teased taking a seat across from him on the sofa. “No, not really,” he grinned again, “especially if it meant that I’d be able to spend all of that time with you wide awake just like this.” “You’re just full of flattery tonight, aren’t you Scanlon?” Gabby smiled feeling an ease between them as she leaned back into the comfy cushions of the sofa. “I’ve been known to have a thing or two to say in the past,” Joe confessed with a smile as he moved in beside her on the sofa taking the initiative to get closer to her. “I see,” Gabby gave him the once over, “and what is it you’re inclined to say at this very moment?” “Too much for mere words,” Joe confessed leaning in towards her as he noticed how beautiful she looked beside him. “Oh, I see,” she smiled lightly, “I see, well is there some other way to bring your thoughts to light?” “I suppose we could work on finding one,” Joe replied reaching out to twirl a lock of her curly hair with his finger as a smile washed over his handsome features, “but first, well first I think I have something else in mind for us this morning.” “Oh?” she raised a curious brow. “That’s right,” he wrapped his arm around her drawing her close for a moment as her breath caught in her throat. Gabby looked deep into his eyes as she felt his hand slip around her and go deep into the couch cushions to withdraw the remote she’d lost earlier. “I knew I’d find it in here,” Joe boasted proudly as he held it up to show it to her, “some things never change, do they?” “I guess they don’t,” Gabby eyed him curiously. “Well I’m glad to hear that because seeing as it’s going on well, on a little after three and we know what kind of television is around Port Charles at this time of night....” he raised a brow mischievously. “Are you thinking what I’m thinking your thinking?” she asked with a hint of a smile. “It’s been a long time Gabby, but what do you say,” he waved the remote in the air. “I say you’re on bucko,” she swiped the remote from him as she turned on the television and looked towards the man on screen, “but I’ll warn you since you’ve left I’ve gotten so much better at the Infomercial Championship I must confess.” “No way,” Joe shook his head in disbelief, “you aren’t better than I am.” “Joe, you’ve been out in the middle of no where for far too long. Trust me, you’ll be amazed at how many of these babies I have down pat,” she flicked the channel. “On the contrary,” Joe reached for the remote, “where I was at, all there was were infomercials and old reruns of Days of Our Lives, so Gabby, you my dear are at a distinct advantage as I am the master of the latest innovative products to reach our television audience here,” he boasted in a boisterous infomercial announcer type voice, “and of course on Stefano Dimera, but that’s another story all together.” “I think I might find that interesting,” she laughed lightly, “Joe Scanlon watching soap operas. I never thought I’d live to see the day.” “Don’t knock it until you try it. There is some pretty intense stuff on daytime television.” “I’ll stick to real life,” Gabby smiled proudly, “and these babies.” “The complete Ginsu set of carving knives?” he raised a curious brow. “No infomercials and my favorite man, even if I am still the champion at this game,” she laughed again snuggling into him as they settled back into their game of pricing the useless objects before them together. It seemed as if old times had returned again as the two found a sense of peace on a sofa they once spent a many hours on planning their futures together. Perhaps this time it could work.
“This is just unbelievable,” Karen repeated again as she handed over Daniel’s chart to Chris, “I mean given how he was when he first came in, then now to see this....” “It’s like the accident never happened,” Eve added holding her son close to her as he tugged on her sleeve, “I mean other than being a little tired, Karen he looks incredible.” “And apparently he’s in incredible shape too though I must confess I would like to keep him a bit longer for observation as none of this adds up,” Karen admitted seeing her friend at ease as Daniel seemed to melt in her arms. “We’ve had a long night Karen. Can’t we just take him home?” Eve pleaded with her friend. “Eve, technically there isn’t anything wrong with him, but still it just seems so strange that all of a sudden he’s.....” “Karen, he’s fine,” Chris interrupted, “clearly anyone can see that. Besides, he has two personal physicians to be by him 24/7, so Karen why don’t you just cut us a little slack here?” “Chris, I’d love to, but.....” “Karen, please,” Eve urged again, “I promise if anything comes up, we’ll bring him back right away.” “Eve, this is against my better judgment, but if you promise to bring him by later tomorrow just for another check up.....” Karen started. “Agreed,” Eve cut her off, “now let’s work on getting my baby home.” “I’ll start the paper work,” Karen nodded stepping out of the room as Chris turned to Eve. “Did you hear that?” Eve smiled at him, “Chris, our baby can come home?” “So he can,” Chris replied as he reached out to touch Daniel’s chubby cheek, “and he sure is happy about that, aren’t you?” Daniel cooed in response before wiggling towards Chris wanting to be lost in his father’s arms as a smile bubbled over his features. “It looks like it’s unanimous,” Eve mused with a smile, “we all want to get out of here.” “And we’ll do just that,” Chris hesitated, “though I have to confess, I don’t like the idea of you going back to your apartment knowing that Ian’s out and about roaming around.” “What?” Eve questioned in confusion. “I don’t know how or why it happened, but those morons over at the police department let him go and I had the misfortune of running into him earlier, but rest assured Eve that I will not let him come near our son. He won’t hassle Daniel anymore.” “What do you mean?” Eve frowned slightly, “you talked to Ian after he was released?” “Your damn right I did and I told him point blank he isn’t coming near you or Daniel,” Chris remarked firmly, “I gave him the restraining order and told him to back off.” “How can he be out already?” Eve shook her head, “after what he did, there is no way that someone in their right mind would let him walk the streets....” “I don’t know what strings he pulled, but given the morons who work at the PCPD, it was only a matter of time. Plus he was with your favorite irritating nosy blind woman extraordinaire.” “Amy?” Eve let out a soft huff, “now what doesn’t THAT surprise me? She’s just been dying for a chance to get rid of me from Ian’s life, but for the record she can have him because I have absolutely no desire to have that kind of misery in my life again.” “And you won’t have any of it. I promised you I’d keep you and Daniel safe and you have my word on that.” “Chris, Ian’s not going to back down especially now that he’s out and he’s got Amy with him,” Eve frowned, “if he got out of jail so quickly, there’s no telling how fast he’ll work on getting that restraining order lifted so that he can get his hands on Danny again.” “Eve, he can’t touch Daniel,” Chris reminded her, “Daniel is my son and I’m not letting Ian anywhere near him.” “Chris, Ian doesn’t know that your Daniel’s father,” she blurted out as she noted the expression on his face, “or does he?” “He was trying to bust in here, making a scene.....” “So you told him you were Danny’s father?” Eve blinked back in surprise. “I didn’t see any problem with it. If he was going to try to make a big scene, I felt I should tell him that he’s not going to win whatever war he was trying to set out against me.” “Chris, this isn’t a war. This is about our son and his well being.” “Exactly which is why I told Ian that Daniel was my son so that he knows that he can’t hurt him again. He can’t get his hands on Daniel and I’m not going to let him get an opportunity to be near him or you.” “Chris, I know you meant well, but knowing Ian...” Eve’s voice tapered off as she worried about Ian’s reaction to finding out the truth. She looked to Daniel who’d seemed at ease in Chris’ arms. “He’s not going to come near our son,” Chris held Daniel protectively, “I told you my family meant the world to me Eve and I meant that. Ian Thornhart will not destroy my family and you have my word on that. I won’t let him come between me and my son ever again.”
“Rafe, where are we going?” Alison questioned noting the time, “it’s so late already and we’ve been running around all night and you still haven’t told me anything.” “You’ll see,” he reached for her hand leading her up along the pathway through the trees, “just a few more minutes.” “Rafe,” Alison sighed before reluctantly agreeing to follow, “alright.” “It won’t be much longer,” he promised as he guided her into a clearing before them, “see I told you. Now what I want you to see is right over there,” he nodded to the space before them. “Come on,” he instructed pulling her along. “I’m coming. I’m coming,” she laughed lightly letting him guide her as they stood near the edge of the cliff looking out into the early dark before dawn, “well?” “Just watch,” he whispered holding her closely as his arms draped around her waist and the moment of silence surrounded them. Alison looked out into the darkness watching as the night’s blackened hues were replaced with a bright crimson painting the sky. The crimson transformed into a tawny color before the golden warmth of the sun exploded within the sky giving way to a beautiful sunrise. Alison looked over her shoulder at Rafe momentarily before her thoughts were directed to the morning sky. “This is so beautiful,” she sighed leaning into his arms. “Not nearly as beautiful as you are,” he kissed her head lightly, “and this is just the beginning. This sunset represents the start of our lives together as we begin our journey with one another. From this moment on, I want to spend the rest of our time together savoring our moments, our love and knowing that we have a magic ahead of us. Just like the sunset I want to have each and every day before us opened up to the possibilities that the world and our love have to offer.” “Oh Rafe,” Alison smiled, “I love you so much.” “I love you too Alison and don’t ever forget that,” he whispered hugging her knowing that soon everything would be more perfect than he’d ever imagined possible.
Ian returned to the apartment, a bottle of Irish Whiskey in his hand as he thought back to his encounter with Kevin and Lucy. Certainly Lucy would help him get his son back and regardless of Kevin’s warnings, he’d see to it that he had his family back again. Looking to the half empty bottle of whiskey in his hand, Ian thought of the damage that had been done earlier to Daniel due to the drink he’d had. However, as Mac had pointed out, the accident wasn’t Ian’s fault and he was home now, home to an empty apartment without a wife or his son. That in itself was reason enough for him to hit the bottle again. Fumbling with the keys against the door, he turned one in the lock and felt the door swing open as he raised the bottle of whiskey to his lips once more. “Honey I’m home,” he slurred taking the last swig from his bottle finishing off the whiskey before throwing the bottle across the room with an exaggerated toss as he felt the suns early rays stinging at his eyes. “To hell with them all,” he muttered realizing he was alone again as he thought of Eve running off with Daniel. This alone just wouldn’t do. After all he’d done to be a good and patient husband with her, he deserved far more than what she’d given him. He’d been nothing but a good father to Daniel and while he and Eve had their differences, he was entitled to being with his son. Eve couldn’t keep him from that and he’d make sure she didn’t continue to think about doing so. “We’ll be together again son,” Ian whispered reaching for a blanket of Daniel’s that Eve had left on the arm of the sofa. Bringing it to his face, he took in the soft scent of baby powder as he hugged the blanket closer to his body, “daddy is here Daniel and soon you will be too.” “Ian,” Amy’s voice rose from the darkness as she stepped into the living room to find Ian on the couch, “Ian is that you?” “Depends on who you ask,” he let out an ironic laugh as he looked up at her, “though I must confess right now I don’t even feel comfortable in my skin.” “I take it your evening didn’t go as planned,” Amy frowned making her way around the room to take a seat beside him on the sofa. She reached out to him touching his face gently as she felt the wrinkles of dismay washing through him, “you’re tense.” “Why wouldn’t I be in this situation?” he questioned with a sigh, “I’m losing my family.” “Ian, you can’t give up. You can’t let Chris win,” Amy urged, “we both know that you’re Daniel’s father and not him. Whatever possessed Eve to bring this lie to life is just wrong, but you’ll get to the heart of this....” “I hope so. I really do,” he reached for her hand, “Amy it’s just been so hard.” “I know,” she nodded as she felt his lips on her hand. “I don’t know what I’d do without you. You’ve been such a good friend to me,” Ian sighed once more as he looked up at her noticing her delicate white nightgown. “It’s you whose been a real friend,” Amy replied with a smile, “you’ve been so kind to me and I can only hope that I can repay you for your kindness.” “Just being here is enough,” he offered with a half smile, “I don’t know what I’d do if I had to face this alone.” “You aren’t alone, Ian,” she promised bringing her fingers through his hair affectionately, “I promise you that.” “How is it you have so much faith in me?” he asked lightly, “here I am a man you’ve known for such a short time and yet you have such an unwavering belief in me and you support me.” “I guess I know a good thing when I see it,” she offered with a smile. “Too bad Eve didn’t see it,” he sighed, “I could’ve given her the world.” “She was a fool to let go of that,” she held his hand bringing it up to her lips in a gentle kiss, “but Ian, I must confess I’m no fool.” “No you aren’t, are you?” he asked with a poignant smile as he reached out to her. “You are anything but a fool in my eyes.” “And you are everything a wonderful man is made of in mine,” Amy smiled in response touching him lightly, “you’re an amazing man Ian.” “Amy,” he couldn’t help but smile as he sat up a bit reaching out to hold her face gently, “I really appreciate hearing that from you. Your opinion means a lot to me,” he confessed pressing a soft and tender kiss against the smooth skin of her cheek, “you’re a wonderful friend.” “I appreciate our friendship Ian,” she reached out to touch his face lightly as she felt the warmth of his breath against her skin, “but what I want for us is so much more.” “Amy?” he questioned seeing the look on her face as she leaned in to kiss him gently. “I care about you Ian,” she confessed in a soft breath against his lips as hers descended upon his, “I have since the day I met you,” she purred into the kiss as the warmth of his mouth upon hers motivated her to deepen the kiss with no protest from Ian. His arms wrapped around her hugging her closer to him as she eased him back on the sofa once more delving deeper into her hidden passion as he held her in his arms. “I care about you too Amy,” Ian whispered feeling the warmth of this woman who’d trusted and cared about him far deeper than anyone else had in this moment and he found that it felt so much better than being alone.
Julie stood in the middle of the bedroom watching her children tucked asleep in the arms of Lucy and a proud smile washed over her features. She thought of the heartbreak she’d felt in giving Christina back to Lucy, but now as Lucy had Christina tucked away in her arms both of them sleeping peacefully in the early morning, she realized her decision had been the right one. Stepping aside to move over to the opposite side of the room, she took a seat beside Angel who’d been sleeping peacefully. Making herself comfortable on the bed, she sat beside her daughter reaching out to her touching her tiny head as a sad smile pressed over her features. “Julie,” a voice called out to her as Julie looked to see Lucy staring back at her, “what are you doing here?” “I came to check in on my daughters,” Julie explained pressing a soft kiss on Angel’s forehead, “just to keep an eye on them.” “They’re doing wonderful, though Christina had a belly ache earlier,” Lucy explained holding her daughter tighter as she blinked back trying to come to terms with what she saw before her. “Thank you for taking such good care of her,” Julie smiled in response, “the love you feel for her will be something she can take with her forever and for that I am forever grateful.” “Christina means the world to me,” Lucy promised her. “Then always remember that and always put her needs first,” Julie offered up once more, “things won’t always be simple, but as long as you keep that love for Christina first, then things will turn out for the best in the end.” “Julie, what are you trying to tell me?” “When the time comes, you’ll know,” Julie promised as Lucy blinked and
Julie was gone replaced with the early morning light. Lucy sat upright
seeing Kevin sleeping beside her as she wondered just what her dream’s
meaning held for her.
Chapter Nine Eve felt the sun’s morning rays flood in through the bedroom window as she turned in bed seeing Daniel fast asleep in the crib Chris had set up for him at the apartment. Now as the morning tickled at her toes, she stretched realizing that despite her night of sleeplessness, she found herself refreshed at the thought of having her son with her again. He seemed so peaceful and relaxed in the crib as she made her way over to look at him, thanking the heavens above for the miracle that she’d been given with his recovery. “I love you Daniel,” she whispered placing a kiss on his tiny cheek with her hand as she decided to go check in with Chris. Noting the time, she realized that she must’ve dozed off for a half an hour or so and she wondered how Chris was doing. Making her way out into the living room, Eve looked around seeing no sign of Chris in sight. Eve searched the apartment before moving into the kitchen to find a note from Chris waiting for her on the table. She picked it up reading it’s message to her aloud. “Eve, gone to get Angel. Be back soon with some breakfast. Love Chris,” she couldn’t help but smile as she held the page close to her thinking about how fortunate they had been. Setting the note down, she looked around the kitchen thinking about all the good times they’d shared here together. This apartment held so many memories for them, so many wonderful moments that had brought about a great many miracles, Daniel included. Making her way out into the living room once more, she struggled to remember the details of that fateful night that she and Chris had created their precious little boy, but still she couldn’t recall much more than their night of drowning in martinis. Anything beyond their drinking seemed to be a blur, but still she promised herself that somehow she’d find a way to remember. Taking a seat on the sofa, Eve rubbed the cushion gently as a smile washed over her features. Despite the nightmare life had been lately, things seemed to be turning around. Somehow life was coming full circle and it appeared to be looking up for a chance. Settling back into the cushion, she turned her attention to the photograph on the coffee table of Chris, Julie, Christina and Angel. Leaning forward she reached out for it, eyeing it closely as she noted the happiness behind Julie’s eyes at her family being together. What a sacrifice it must’ve been for Julie to leave that all behind, Eve thought to herself as she realized just how lucky she had been to be given a second chance at happiness. Julie had seen to it that Eve could finally have that new beginning and this time she promised herself and Julie that she wouldn’t screw it up, not for the world.
Chris stood on the porch to the lighthouse feeling less than excited about having his daughter at Kevin and Lucy’s home, but he promised himself that he’d be as civil as need be in picking up Angel, at least for his daughter’s sake. Knocking on the door once more, he waited impatiently until Kevin opened the door looking rather surprised at his visitor. “Chris, hello,” Kevin offered with a smile. “I’m here to pick up Angel,” Chris explained matter of fact as Kevin stepped aside allowing him access to the lighthouse. “Of course you are,” Kevin replied politely closing the door behind Chris, “but I will tell you that she’s still sleeping upstairs with Christina. The two of them were up late together.” “That doesn’t surprise me,” Chris confessed facing Kevin once more, “speaking of Christina, how is she? Jack had mentioned that she wasn’t feeling well last night.” “She’d had a nightmare and wanted her sister,” Kevin explained, “but once Angel arrived all was forgotten. They were lost in stories and play time.” “That doesn’t surprise me,” Chris couldn’t help but smile, “Julie said they both had very active imaginations when they got together.” “So I’ve seen,” Kevin smiled in response, “so Chris, how are you doing? How’s Daniel and Eve?” “Resting,” Chris answered after a moment, “Karen released Daniel last night and he’s doing good.” “Last night?” Kevin frowned, “how is that possible? I saw him last night and he was in no condition to come home.” “You wouldn’t believe it if I told you how it happened,” Chris shook his head, “I still don’t, but the important part is he’s home and healthy.” “That’s good to hear,” Kevin nodded suppressing his questions, “and Eve?” “She’s doing okay. Actually she’s....” Chris started but was soon interrupted by the sounds of tiny footsteps rushing down the stairs. “Daddy!!!!” Angel cried out to her father rushing over to her father with a clumsy tired little jog as she hugged his legs, “daddy, daddy you’re here.” “Of course I am princess,” he bent down to pick up his daughter giving her a kiss on the forehead as she hugged him tightly. “I missed you so, so much daddy,” she confessed hugging him tighter as her tiny little head flopped from side to side, her tiny pigtails lightly swatting Chris’ shoulders as she moved, “Chrissy and I had so much fun last night daddy. We played hair style with her other mommy and read stories.....” Angel continued bubbled over with excitement as she filled her father in on the details of her and Christina’s adventures together. “It sounds like you were a lucky little girl last night,” Chris replied watching her as another sound of tiny feet rushed down the stairs. “Chris!” Christina greeted him with an excited grin as she rushed over to him hugging his leg, “Chris!” “Hey beautiful,” Chris smiled at Christina noting how much she’d grown since the last time he’d seen her, “how are you doing?” “Mommy, Angel and I played last night,” Christina explained extending her arms out to him indicating that she too wanted up in his arms. Chris followed her request holding both girls in his arms as a smile washed over his features, “it’s so good to see you here. Angel said you’d be coming over and now you’re here. Now we can all play like we used to when mommy wasn‘t in heaven,” Christina continued excitedly. “Yeah!” Angel agreed with obvious excitement, “and we can call Danny over too,” she paused looking to her father, “he is feeling better, right?” “Yes, he is,” Chris nodded in response as he looked to the staircase finding Lucy standing before him, a scowl washing over her features. “Chris, what a surprise to see YOU here,” Lucy remarked tightly, “I would’ve thought you’d forgotten all about your daughter being here.” “I could never forget my daughter,” Chris hugged Angel before giving Christina a squeeze as well, “or this little princess either.” “Christina wasn’t feeling well last night,” Lucy stepped forward reaching out to her daughter trying to dislodge her from Chris’ arms, “you shouldn’t be squeezing her like that.” “Lucy, I’m sure she’ll be fine,” Kevin began noting his wife’s tension as she pulled Christina into her arms protectively once more. “She and Angel were just about to eat,” Lucy explained with a frown, “they haven’t had breakfast yet.” “Yeah I’m hungry,” Christina remembered, “mommy can Angel’s daddy have breakfast with us too?” “I don’t know Christina,” Lucy frowned, “I’m sure he has other things to do this morning.” “He can stay for breakfast,” Angel added, “right daddy?” “Well honey normally we could, but I wanted to go back home to Danny and Eve.” “Danny’s at our home?” Angel’s eyes widened, “really?” “Yes he is and he’s looking very forward to seeing you again,” Chris nodded in response. “Great, now we can all play together Chrissy,” Angel grinned at her big sister, “we can go over and have breakfast with Danny.” “Yeah,” Christina beamed with energy. “Actually Christina, Livvie is in the kitchen with breakfast for you and Angel,” Lucy set her daughter down, “why don’t you two go in there and get started while I have a word with Angel’s daddy?” “Lucy, Angel and I have to get going,” Chris started. “Oh come on Daddy. Please....” Angel begged of him as she wiggled in his arms. “Okay, but we can’t stay too long,” Chris decided realizing how much this time with Christina meant to his daughter as he set her down and the two little ones rushed into the kitchen together hand in hand. “They really have enjoyed this time together,” Kevin added breaking his silence as he watched the two tiny little girls disappear into the kitchen. “I can see that,” Chris couldn’t help but smile at the love between the two sisters. “Yes they have, which brings me to wonder what the hell it is that you’re doing here Chris,” Lucy snapped at him. “Excuse me?” Chris looked over at her. “Well considering that you are so hell bent on making everyone miserable, I have to wonder why you’d come over here and do that to those little girls as well. I mean it’s bad enough that you and little Evie are trying so desperately to take Ian from his only child, but now to come in here and bust up the few minutes of joy that Christina and Angel have with one another just to serve your own selfish purposes....” “Lucy,” Kevin chastised her, “that’s enough.” “No Doc, it’s not,” Lucy shook her head, “come to think of it, what is it exactly that you and little Evie are trying to pull together?” “Lucy, I’m not really sure where you’re coming from, but I’d strongly suggest you watch your tone with me,” Chris warned. “Was that a threat?” Lucy huffed at him, “because if it was, I’ll warn you now Chris Ramsey that threatening me is not something you want to do. If you think you can just come here into my home and bully me and my children around, you can just think again. I won’t let you speak like that to me in my home and I most certainly won’t let you hurt that little girl in there when she’s happier than she’s been in a long time I’m certain.” “Lucy....” Kevin touched her shoulder. “That’s it,” Chris frowned, “I tried to be polite, but to hell with it. I’m getting Angel and we’re leaving.” “Like hell you are,” Lucy marched forward towards him cutting his pathway to the kitchen off, “you aren’t taking that little girl anywhere.” “Excuse me?” Chris blinked back. “I’m not going to allow you to hurt her. She’s staying right here where she belongs with Christina and you aren’t taking her out of this house.” “Angel is my daughter and you can’t stop me from leaving with her,” Chris reminded her. “Of course I can and I will, right Doc?” Lucy looked to Kevin for support. “Lucy, I don’t know what brought this on, but I think maybe you should just calm down for a minute before......” Kevin started in confusion. “Doc, he and Eve are trying to use Ian’s son to hurt him and I’m not going to let them do the same to Angel. She’s happy here with Christina and she belongs with someone who loves her and will care about her and what’s best for her. She deserves a real father and a mother, not two psychopaths like Chris and Eve.” “She’s my daughter Lucy and you don’t have a right to decide what’s best for her.” “Just like you don’t have any rights with Ian’s son, but you seem to think you can take his rights away from him,” Lucy snapped in response. “Not that it’s any of your business, but Daniel is my son, Lucy not Ian’s.” “Yeah right and I’m the Easter Bunny.” “Believe what you want, but it’s the truth,” Chris glared at her, “now I’m going to give you two seconds to get out of my way and then I’m going to remove you myself.” “If you touch me, I’ll throw you in jail faster than you can blink because I WON’T let you get your hands on that little girl,” Lucy warned him tightly. “Is that so?” Chris glared at her, “we’ll just see about that,” he pressed his hand on her shoulder to move her aside as Lucy started to smack him. Kevin stepped in taking his wife in his arms as he tore her away from Chris. “Lucy, stop it. Lucy!” “No Doc, I’m not going to let Ramsey go in there and hurt another innocent person.” “My god Kevin, you’ve married a lunatic,” Chris shook his head in disbelief. “What is going on out here?” Livvie interrupted stepping out from the kitchen as she looked at the scene before her, “Chris?” “It seems your step-mother has issues with me and my daughter,” Chris explained glaring at Lucy once more, “but too damn bad. I’m taking my daughter,” he finished marching into the kitchen. “Livvie, can you go in there with Chris?” Kevin questioned. “Sure dad,” Livvie replied in confusion as she went back into the kitchen wondering what had transpired between Lucy and Chris. “Doc, you can’t just let him go in there and take her,” Lucy pleaded with her husband, “you know what kind of man Chris is.” “Chris is her father,” Kevin reminded her seeing how upset his wife was. “I know Doc, but I just have this horrible, horrible feeling and Angel isn’t safe with him. She’s not in good hands with a man like that. Please, Doc I just have a feeling that she’s not going to be safe with him....” “Lucy, I understand that you’re upset and while Chris Ramsey isn’t one of my favorite people either, you have to realize that he’s not going to hurt his daughter.” “Doc, how can you be so sure? Besides Angel is so happy here. She and Christina were so excited to be with one another last night that they should be able to have that with each other every night,” Lucy pleaded with him, “they need each other and it would be awful to keep them apart from one another.” “Lucy, what are you suggesting?” “I had a dream about Julie last night and she told me to put Christina’s needs first. Doc, Angel is so very important to Christina and they shouldn’t be apart. They should be together.” “Lucy, we can’t just take Angel from her father.” “Why not? The man is obviously a horrible parent and she’d be so happy here with us,” Lucy continued determined, “she and Christina are just so wonderful together and I don’t want them to have that severed because of Chris.” “Lucy, listen to me,” Kevin held her in his arms as he looked to her, “I realize that Ian upset you this morning and that you want what’s best for him and for Angel, but if this is about what he said about Daniel....” “No Kevin, this isn’t about Ian or Daniel. This is about what’s best for that little girl and what’s best for her is having her here.” “Lucy, that’s not what’s best for her and you know that. Deep in your heart you know that,” Kevin touched her cheek, “I know you mean well, but there is some other arrangement we can work out with Chris to see to it that Christina and Angel are together. We can work out some kind of playtime for the girls, but at the same time we’re going to have to cooperate with Chris to get that to happen.” “No way,” Lucy shook her head, “not with that man.” “Then we’re going to have problems,” Kevin frowned again, “I know you mean well, but....” “Don’t but me Doc,” she pushed away from him, “I know what I’m doing and if you won’t help me protect that little girl, then I’ll find someone else who will,” she turned towards the kitchen. “Lucy,” Kevin started watching her disappear as he silently cursed Ian knowing that somehow he’d planted this notion in Lucy’s head by his visit last night. Kevin let out a sigh of frustration as a scream came out from the kitchen and he rushed inside, “what is it?” “She’s gone,” Lucy explained, “Chris took her with him.” “Took who? Christina?” Kevin noticed the empty kitchen. “I told you that he was evil, pure evil, but no you wouldn’t believe me.” “We’ll go get her,” Kevin tried to calm his wife, “I promise you that she’s not leaving with him,” he headed towards the back door finding himself overcome with anger as he nearly ran into Livvie. “Dad, hey...” she replied as she held Christina in her arms. “Christina,” Kevin realized that she was safe in Livvie’s arms. “Hello,” she waved at him with a tiny laugh, “we just told Angel bye bye.” “Oh thank God,” Lucy pushed through Kevin to reach for Christina holding her tightly, “Oh thank god. I love you so, so very much.” “I love you too mommy,” Christina replied hugging Lucy. “See she’s fine Lucy,” Kevin let out a breath of relief. “Of course she is,” Lucy replied hugging her tighter, “and this just proves my point. Chris is not to be trusted.” “Look Lucy, I didn’t realize by walking Chris and Angel out that it would worry you so much,” Livvie began apologetically, “had I known....” “It’s okay,” Kevin reached out to her daughter, “it’s fine. Actually could you take Christina upstairs because I think Lucy and I need a few minutes to ourselves...” “Of course,” Livvie reached for Christina as Lucy refused to give up her hold on her. “Lucy, we’re just going upstairs.” “Alright,” she finally agreed to turn Christina over, “but I promise I’ll be right up to color with you baby doll.” “Okay mommy,” Christina waved as she and Livvie left the kitchen together. “Lucy, I don’t know what just happened here, but I think we need to discuss a few things,” Kevin began calmly. “Doc, what happened here is that Chris Ramsey started to bring his trouble with him into our home,” Lucy replied. “Lucy, I told you last night that we had to stay out of this with Eve and Ian...” “That man has Christina’s sister and we both know he’s pure evil,” Lucy reminded him with a frown, “Doc, you and I both know what he’s capable of and that little girl is not safe with him.” “That’s not our call to make, Lucy.” “Even so I can’t just sit back and do nothing knowing how many lives he’s going to destroy.” “Lucy, I don’t think...” “Don’t even defend him,” Lucy cut him off, “because you know just like me who Chris Ramsey is.” “Even so, we can’t become the judge and jury on Chris’ case there,” Kevin pointed out. “Maybe not, but I know one thing for sure. I’m not going to let him ruin my family or Ian‘s,” Lucy replied spinning on her heel as she left Kevin alone in the kitchen trying to make sense of what had just happened in their house.
Ian let out a soft groan as he realized his head felt as though it was going to explode. Somehow the light in the bedroom had invaded his senses giving him a strong dose of reality after his long hard night of misery. He stretched out a bit suddenly very aware of the warm body beside him and his eyes snapped open. Wondering if in fact his nightmare of a life was just that, he turned to face his wife hoping to see that this past few months was just something in his mind, when he noted the soft, brown hair beside him. He sat upright with a gasp as he realized he was naked in bed with Amy. “Amy,” Ian spoke her name shaken by the realization of what this meant as his head vibrated with pain. She turned slightly curled up in the sheet as she opened her eyes with a soft smile. “Ian, good morning,” Amy yawned stretching out beside him. “Amy, wh-what are you doing here?” Ian questioned wearily as he watched her intently. “Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten last night already,” Amy teased as she propped herself up on her elbow turning towards him as her fingers traced over the strong contours of his chest, “I think I might have to be offended after the way you made love to me last night.” “Made love,” Ian repeated blinking back at her. “And it was heavenly,” Amy smiled wider, “the magic of what we shared together. Ian, even thinking about it now makes me realize just how much I still want you.” “Amy, I....” Ian started as she leaned over to kiss him silencing him with her hungry mouth as her slender form moved in over him pinning him down. He felt the intensity behind her kiss as he reluctantly pulled away from her, “Amy, I don’t think that we should....” “Shh....” Amy whispered bringing her finger over his lips, “you promised me that I’d be able to make love to you like you did to me over and over again last night, so here I am returning the favor.” “Amy, while you’re an incredible woman,” Ian eased himself out of her arms feeling the awkwardness of the moment, “we can’t do this.” “Of course we can and we did,” Amy beamed as she lay back on the bed, “I mean if you’re uncomfortable with my taking charge...” “NO, no it’s not that. It’s just....” his gaze traveled over her as his head pounded intensely, “Amy, I....I have to clear my head. I’m going to take a shower.” “Ohh....I’ll join you,” she grinned with a hint of mischief. “No,” he answered swiftly, “I mean no I think I’d better go on my own. My head is killing me.” “Oh well while you’re in the shower, then I’ll um, well I’ll make you up something for that head of yours,” she offered. “No Amy, really you don’t have to. I mean I’m sure I’ll be just fine after a hot shower, so you don’t have to stay,” Ian started uneasily. “I want to Ian,” Amy offered up, “and really it’s no trouble. Just go take that shower and we can talk after.” “Well,” Ian paused not sure on how to approach things with Amy, “I’ll do that.” “Okay,” Amy waved as Ian left her alone in the bedroom. She lay back into the blankets thinking about all she’d managed to do for Ian in the last couple days. Now after they’d made love, she was certain that they could work on having that happily ever after that she’d always dreamt of. Ian had to love her after last night and from here on out they’d be together forever.
“So what’s all the buzz about, Frank?” Karen questioned as her fiancee stepped out into the living room looking a bit apprehensive as she watched him. “I don’t know,” Frank shrugged, “Gabby just called me saying that she had something she wanted to talk about this morning and that it was kind of important.” “But she didn’t say what it was?” “No, not at all,” he shook his head, “which makes me wonder.” “I’m sure it’s not bad news,” Karen reached out to him, “though I must confess I haven’t seen you so on edge in a while.” “Well, I was just thinking about everything,” he confessed with a sigh, “granted things aren’t always in the dumps around here, but something about her tone....” “There you go panicking again,” she shook her head, “when am I going to rid you of that habit?” “Seeing as we live here, maybe never,” Frank shrugged. “Well then we’ll have to work on that,” Karen stepped in to kiss him as the doorbell rang. “Looks like she’s early,” he replied breaking away from the kiss. “So she is, but I’m sure it’s nothing.” “Maybe not,” Frank headed towards the door taking in a breath as he opened it. “Hey Frank,” Gabby smiled at him, “can I come in?” “Of course,” Frank extended the door to her, “Karen and I were wondering what was up?” “Well actually,” Gabby couldn’t help but beam with excitement, “I came over this morning because I have a surprise for you both.” “Really? What might that be?” Karen questioned curiously making her way towards the foyer. “Oh just that I couldn’t help but bring this stray with me that I found wandering around my apartment,” she reached out behind her drawing her hand back before Joe emerged beside her, “think you’re up for a visit?” “Joe,” Frank’s eyes widened as he reached out to embrace his brother, “what are you doing here?” “I thought it was time to come home and see my big brother especially with his big day rolling around the corner,” Joe explained with a smile, “so can I come in?” “You bet you can,” Frank invited him inside, “I just had no idea you were coming back so soon.” “Well you know I just can’t stay away and with the good news I’ve had, I thought that maybe I’d see my brother and his fiancee, not to mention my little niece while I’m here.” “So I take it you heard about Christina,” Frank began again. “Among other things and I thought maybe I would come in and see how you’re handling things. So what do you say? Think you’re up for a visit from your brother?” “Of course I am,” Frank welcomed him again, “in fact I think right now this is one of the best things that could’ve happened.” “See, I told you they’d love it that you were back,” Gabby boasted. “That we are however,” Karen reached out to Gabby, “I have something I want to show you in the kitchen, so why don’t we let these two have a talk?” “Oh of course,” Gabby nodded, “we’ll be right back.” “Take your time,” Joe waved at her as he and Frank were alone at last. “So how are you doing little brother?” “Honestly, I’ve never been better,” Joe confessed, “I want to thank you again for that call about Gabby. It got me thinking about things.” “About second chances?” Frank raised a curious brow. “Yeah that tends to be the theme of things around here which brings me to another question for you,” Joe watched his brother closely, “how is it going with you and Christina?” “She’s home again with Kevin and Lucy.” “I realize that, but what about you? Have you seen her?” “Not since right after Kevin and Lucy’s wedding,” Frank shook his head. “Why is that?” “She seems so happy with things that I don’t want to intrude upon that happiness,” Frank shrugged, “besides I wouldn’t know what to say about things.” “Frank, she’s your daughter. Surely you’d want to see her,” Joe replied, “and I’m sure Kevin and Lucy wouldn’t mind you visiting.” “No I don’t think they would, but I mean what do I say to her? How do I explain to her that I’m her father and I love her very much, but I don’t have her with me,” Frank sighed taking a seat on the sofa, “Courtney had me so wound up that I gave away my rights to Christina and now, well now I’m afraid if I do bond with her, when she gets older she’s going to want to know why I didn’t want to keep her with me, why I didn’t want my little girl with me.” “Frank, I don’t think she’ll see it that way.” “But what if she does? What if she wonders why I gave her up, Joe? What if she thinks I didn’t love her?” “But you do.” “I know that, but I’m afraid if I do spend more time with her, I’m going to want to have her with me all of the time and I can’t do that to Lucy,” Frank sighed, “she’s been a good mother to Christina and I have no right to intrude.” “Somehow I had a feeling you needed me around,” Joe watched the pain behind his brother’s eyes, “and it looks like I didn’t arrive a minute too soon.” “Actually, I’m glad you’re back Joe,” Frank confessed, “because I really need someone to talk to. Karen’s been so wonderful, but I feel like she’s in a tough spot too.” “I realize that, but then again none of this was ever easy for any of us, but don’t worry Frank. We’ll figure something out. Surely there has to be a way around Christina not thinking you gave her up because you didn’t want her. I think if you show her you love her, that will be just what she needs.” “I hope you’re right Joe,” Frank sighed wondering if he’d done what was right for his daughter in giving up his rights.
“There you are silly boy,” Eve pulled Daniel out of the crib as her son let out a loud yawn, “and here mommy thought you’d be sleeping all day long, but here you are ready to start playing already. That’s okay though mommy was getting lonely being in the apartment by herself, so you and I can just find some ways to spend out time before Chris....” she heard the sound of the door slamming, “it sounds like he’s back. Chris? Chris?” she questioned carrying Daniel out into the living room as she saw him taking off his jacket and Angel running around. “Danny!” Angel beamed excited rushing over to Eve, “Eve! It’s true you and Danny are really here!” “Of course we are Angel. How are you doing?” Eve greeted her with a smile. “I’m great. I played with Christina all night and now Danny and I can play. It’s like the bestest day in the whole entire world to me. This is so cool!” Angel continued reaching out to Daniel, “can he play now?” “Well actually,” Eve started as Daniel wiggled in her arms eager to get down and play. “Down mama,” Daniel gave his mother a firm look before wiggling again. “Sure, but you two be careful,” Eve decided as Daniel rushed off with Angel over to the corner of the living room filled with Angel’s toys and they seated themselves down to play one of her games together. Eve smiled as she stepped in closer to Chris, “would you look at the two of them? They look so incredible together, don’t you think?” she looked to Chris once more, “hey where’s breakfast?” “I forgot about it,” Chris sighed running his fingers through his hair. “Uh oh, I know that look,” Eve frowned, “what happened? Did you have another run in with Ian?” “No, it wasn’t him this time,” he shook his head, “it was Lucy.” “Lucy? What the hell has she done now?” “She fought with me about my taking Angel home,” Chris sighed, “obviously Ian made a trip over there to tell her about you, me and Daniel.” “Oh that is just like him,” Eve’s anger got the best of her, “not only does he shack up with Amy, but he’s turning to Lucy to dig deeper into this war against us.” “He’s not going to win,” Chris answered determined, “I’m not letting him or anyone get in the way of me and my children.” “Chris, what did she say?” Eve frowned slightly, “what did she do to get you so upset?” “She made remarks about what kind of parent I was. How I wasn’t good enough for Angel....” “Obviously that’s not true,” Eve touched his shoulder, “certainly you do realize that, right?” “I do, but you know Eve, considering everything I’ve done in my past, maybe you and Daniel staying here isn’t the best thing.” “What?” Eve blinked back, “you’ve got to be kidding right?” “Eve, if Ian’s planning on using my past against you, then perhaps I should back off for a while.” “I don’t think so,” Eve shook her head, “Daniel is your son and that in itself gives you plenty of rights in his life.” “I realize that, but at the same time I also realize that in your staying here in this apartment like this, well anything and everything he can dig up about us will be ammunition against you.” “Well then we need to fight back,” Eve decided firmly, “I mean how hard can it be facing Ian?” “What’s with this sudden determination?” Chris eyed her closely. “Let’s just say after last night, well I had an awakening. If we survived last night, we can survive anything,” Eve insisted with a proud smile, “we can easily make it through this with our children.” “Our children,” Chris repeated. “Well I mean I know Angel isn’t mine, but she feels like it and I promised Julie that I’d look after her,” Eve explained, “besides, I think maybe it would be best for all of us if we started acting like a family.” “A family,” Chris smiled at the notion, “you know it did always have a nice ring to it.” “Great, then maybe once this divorce is finalized between me and Ian, we can work on that,” Eve offered with a smile. “You do realize you would’ve been able to avoid all of this had you married me,” Chris half teased. “Who’s to say we still can’t take that road with one another,” Eve thought it over for a moment, “in fact, let’s do it.” “What?” “Let’s get married.” Eve blurted out. “Just like that?” Chris watched her closely. “Sure, why not. I mean maybe Scott can pull a few strings to speed up this procedure with the divorce and then we can get married, move into a house and prove to the world that we are the best family for Angel and Daniel. I mean who would want to challenge our family as opposed to Ian having our son?” “You’ve really thought this through, haven’t you?” Chris watched her closely as Angel let out a squeal of laughter alerting the both of them to look to Daniel and her playing with one another. “Yeah I have,” Eve decided, “and I mean I know it’s kind of sudden and all, but I thought what you said about Ian’s reaction. He sounded upset and knowing Ian he won’t back down, even if he doesn’t have a say in the matter. He’ll still try to get at us, to get to Daniel, but if we’re a family....” “Eve, do you even realize what marriage entails?” “All too well,” she groaned, “but with you and me, we’re friends, best friends and we can make it work. All you have to do is say yes and I’ll call Scott.” “Eve, let me get this straight. You’re trying to convince me to marry you so that we can look like a family?” “We have kind of always felt like one haven’t we?” Eve paused, “and Daniel is your son after all.” “Yes he is, but you and I aren’t exactly what most married couples are.....” Chris stopped realizing the words were falling from his lips. “No, not yet anyways, but we’ve done the child thing and we have the potential there for more. I might not remember us making love that night, but I still haven’t forgotten the two of us kissing the other night,” she smiled her cheeks a bit flushed, “that was nice. Then again it’s always been nice between us.” “I’ve always thought so,” Chris couldn’t help but agree, “although I’ve got to tell you, I should say no based on the fact that you turned me down. In fact, no. I’m not going to marry you.” “No?” She gave him a surprised look. “No,” he shook his head, “not unless you ask me again and give me a ring,” he couldn’t help but tease, “once you have the ring, then we’ll talk.” “Ah yes, the ring,” Eve looked around for a moment before taking his hand, “follow me.” “Where are we going,” Chris asked as she lead him over to the children and their pile of toys. Once she released his hand, she knelt down beside Angel and Daniel and whispered to Angel for a moment before Angel let out a tiny giggle and handed something to Eve. Eve stood up once more and turned to Chris with a hint of a smile, “If you ask, you shall receive,” she replied with a smile reaching for his hand and pulling out a chunky, orange colored plastic ring from Angel’s tower of rings. She placed it over his finger watching as the thick piece of plastic circled the top of his finger. Once it was in place, she turned back to Daniel and Angel scooping them both up in her arms before kneeling a bit before him, “Chris Ramsey, you have the ring and a very big part of my heart, so the question is will you marry me?” “Eve, I......” Chris was at a loss as he looked down at her and the children before him all of them looking so eagerly at him. “Daddy,” Angel tugged on his leg noting her father’s silence, “um dad.” “Yes sweetie?” he answered. “This is the part where you say yes,” she explained as Chris moved down beside her. “You’re right it is,” Chris couldn’t help but laugh as he reached out to touch Eve’s cheek gently, “yes. Yes I’ll marry you Eve,” he whispered leaning in to kiss her as both Daniel and Angel let out a laugh. “You will?” Eve’s eyes widened as they parted. “You bet I will,” Chris kissed her again and again coming to the realization that his dream of a life with Eve was finally coming true. “That’s cool,” Angel interrupted reaching for her father’s hand, “but um can I have my ring back now?” “Of course you can,” Chris chuckled as his daughter took back her toy and turned her attention back to her playtime with Daniel. “Come play,” Daniel reached over to Chris as the four of them sat down enjoying these moments of happiness with one another knowing it was just a beginning for them all.
“Ian, is everything alright in there?” Amy knocked on the door to the bathroom realizing that Ian had been in there quite some time after his abrupt departure from the bedroom. When she’d heard the shower go off, she had hoped he’d come out again, but now as she waited for what felt like forever, she started to worry about him, “Ian?” “Just a second Amy,” Ian’s voice reluctantly answered, “I’m just not feeling too well.” “Oh, is there something I can do for you?” “Actually maybe you should just leave,” Ian offered his voice a bit shaky as he stood in front of the mirror wondering what had happened to him. “Ian, I don’t want to leave if you’re not feeling well.” “It’s for the best Amy, but I’ll call you later.” “Ian, I just don’t know.....” she frowned slightly thinking about her plans for the two of them. “Amy, trust me,” He opened the door for a moment giving her a look, “I really am not up for company right now.” “Ian, I just wish....” she stopped herself, “well if you aren’t feeling well and you really want me to leave...” “Thank you for understanding,” Ian offered reaching out to embrace her before drawing back. “Of course, but you will call me and let me know how you’re doing right?” “Of course,” he nodded leading her to the door, “I appreciate you being here last night, but I think I’ll be just fine from here on out.” “Okay,” Amy gave him one last look, “but if you need anything....” “I’ll give you a call,” he nodded in agreement before escorting her out. Once she’d left he closed the door letting out a long sigh wondering what in the world he’d gotten himself into last night. After a moment he heard a soft tapping at the door and he turned to it hating to open it as he wished Amy would just leave until he could collect his thoughts. With a sigh he opened the door to find Lucy standing on the other side of it. “What happened to you?” she frowned slightly seeing the way he looked. “It’s a long story,” he sighed turning back into his apartment to make himself some coffee. “Well long story or not, we need to talk,” she closed the door behind her as Ian shuddered at the banging sound. “What’s on your mind?” he asked looking over at her briefly. “You are and I’ve come to give you an answer Ian,” she replied determined as she thought to her exchange with Chris, “You said you needed me so, I’m here to help you get Daniel back.” ...to be continued...
