Episode 24 - Reinforcements From The Future, pt. 1

written by Amit Bhaumik; directed by Koichi Sakamoto (originally aired- July 27, 2002)

Orgs: Three Mut-Orgs (Mutant Orgs)

Personal Rating: ****1/2 (out of five)

Brief Summary: Eric and Wes catch Taylor speeding in her new convertible. Three Orgs appear in a car garage, and Jundrax and Toxica try to find them. Once they do, they realized the Orgs speak in a language they can't understand, but they try to recruit the three to work underneath them anyway. They throw them off a ledge and follow the readings of a handheld tracking device of some sort. We next see the Silver Gaurdians' SUVs driving toward a plaza where the Orgs are attacking. Calling them mutants, the Silver Gaurdians fight them but are all hurt. Wes and Eric morph and try to take on the three, but they are no match. Suddenly, a shot is fired at the three and we see Cole holding the Falcon Summoner along with the other four Wild Force Rangers. The three leave, following the tracking device. The Rangers demorph and Talyor comments that Eric is the one who gave her the ticket, and she says he should have thanked them. Danny tries to calm them down by reminding them that they are all Power Rangers. Eric says they need to leave the mutant fighting to the "big boys", but the Wild Force team says they are Orgs, which Eric and Wes have no knowledge of. Wes thinks of communicating with the future, so he and Eric leave. On the Animarium, the Rangers ponder over the three mutant / Orgs when they comment to Princess Shayla how nice the Time Force Rangers were, but Taylor disagrees. Max begins to make fun of her, saying her favorite was "the Quantum Ranger" (in a mimicking voice). Wes and Eric find out from Trip that three fugitives had escaped, but they had no knowledge of where they were. He also mentioned that Jen was on assignment to follow them, but they had lost contact a few weeks ago. On a building at night, while the three Orgs / mutants communicate in their jibberish, a hooded figure with some sort of scanner stands in the shadows. One of the three knocks some boxes down to look for whoever it is, but doesn't see who it is. As Taylor stands near her car, the two Time Force show up and ask for help capturing mutants. She agrees, but tells them that they are Orgs. On the Animarium, Taylor guides the two toward where the other Rangers are when they see the Eagle Zord fly over. She boastingly comments that she bets they have never seen something like that, but under his breath, Eric says it's nothing compared to his Q-Rex. The Time Force Rangers contact the future again to hear Trip say that Time Force has classified the three has Mut-Orgs. None of the Rangers see how it is possible for them to be both mutant and Org, but Trip says he knows who can help. In the future, Katie and Lucas find Nadira playing with some children, and they take her to Ransik who is in a cell. Back in the present, Danny ponders how they will be able to defeat the three Mut-Orgs, but Max reminds him to "never give up" (again). As they pump each other up by saying "Yeah!" louder and louder each time, the bump chests, knocking Max to ground. Taylor comments to Eric how they really get on her nerves, and Eric says his friends used to do the same. In a Silver Gaurdian SUV as Wes tells Cole how there are other Rangers out there working for the same goal, Cole gets a call that the Orgs are back. All seven Rangers morph and fight the three, but fail. Wes is on the ground and the leader holds up his sword to destroy him, when he is shot by a laser. Up on a hill is the hooded character who, when taking off her cloak, is revealed to be Jen. She jumps off and dodges fire from the Mut-Orgs and helps Wes up. He asks her how she got here, but she insists there isn't enough time. They run off trying to escape the Mut-Orgs. In the Nexus, the three appear to Master org, and suprisingly, talk normally, saying he is their master...

Notable Events: *Eric, Wes, Trip Katie, Lucas, Jen, Ransik, Nadira, and the Silver Gaurdians return

Orgs: Three Mut-Orgs (Mutant Orgs)

Personal Rating: ****1/2 (out of five)

Brief Summary: This episode pics up where part one left off. On the Animarium, Jen tells Wes that she has been tracking the Mut-Orgs for about week. Shayla says there is an owl trapped in the Time Force's communication device (Circuit). Circuit tells them that Captain Logan will be sending them to their time soon. The Wild Force Rangers, Eric, Jen, and Wes go to the beach to be at the other Time Force's arrival. The Rangers in the present warmly welcome the ones from the future, then we see Ransik and Nadira get off. Jen doesn't look too forgiveing, but Ransik asks to make up for all the bad things he's done. Cole reassueres Jen that he is speaking from his heart. At the Animarium at night, Ransik admits the Mut-Orgs are his fault. In the future, he wanderedin the shadows of the so called utopia created by Time Force. He says he found an some old ruins and the Orgs trapped there said they would aid him if he freed him. Once he did, they entered his body and copied his mutant DNA. In return, they made his entire body a weapon, hence the swords that come out of his body. Jen and Wes have some time to themselves, and Eric is working on his Quantum Defender. Taylor asks to see it; Eric comments that it's not a toy, but Taylor tells him that since she was in the Air Force, she coudl probably teach him a thing or two. The next day, Master Org, the Mut-Orgs, and Putrids go to a power plant to try to creat massive pollution, therefore creating more Orgs, and changing history. The Rangers come to intervene, and Ransik goes with Wes and Cole because he knows how to get rid of the Mut-Org's mutant side. Jen and Alyssa team up blasting Putrids back to back with Chrono Blasters, while Trip works on a computer to shut down the core with Lucas, Max, and Danny gaurding him. Taylor, Katie, and Eric teamup too, and when the Putrids attack, the Rangers all fight. Once Trip shuts down the core, Eric throws Taylor his Quantum Defender and she gets rid of the core for good. The three Mut-Orgs show up behind the Wes, Cole, Ransik and Nadira team, hurting Nadira. Ransik in a rage, goes after them. They create a big ball of energy, and Ransik hurls himself onto them, absorbing the energy. They all explode, and Ransik tells them, with very little energy, that he has destroyed the Mutant side and theat they must get rid of the Org themselves. The eleven Rangers, plus Merrick, show up and morph to fight the Mut-Orgs. All twlve valiantly fight the Putrids and Orgs, until Cole, Eric, and Wes don their armor and, along with the other Rangers using their sidearms, they destroy the Orgs. As they go back to see if Ransik is okay, the find out his mutant side has been gotten rid of. At the end, they all have a picnic and goof off some, as a reward for defeating the Orgs.

Notable Events: *More info on Ransik's origins given *Mut-Orgs destroyed

Opinions: These were very good episodes (which you can tell by my ratings), probably two of the best of the season. I'm glad they didn't throw out continuity and make Ransik and Nadira the bad guys. In fact, the continuity was very well kept. Wes and Eric are Silver Gaurdians, Taylor still has a bad attitude, etc. I was also glad to see that a Red Ranger wasn't the center of one of these episodes, as Taylor gained a lot of the spotlight. Her stubborness makes a big comeback; it was nice to see two hotheads (Eric and Taylor) at each other's throats. As we see later in the episode, they may in fact like eache other.

I was definitly glad to see the Time Force gang back; they brought some refreshing elements to this episode. Nice to see Wes's debut in a Silver Gaurdian outfit, as well as Eric and the Silver Garudians in general! Jen's return was definitly a shock. I could guess it was her underneath the cloak, but her new leather attire was very suprising. The clothes reminded me alot of Karone's when she returned to Lost Galaxy, except with more guns and such.

The action was fantastic! Some of the scenes with Wes and Eric's first fight with the Mut-Orgs reminded me of some of the stunts in "A Force From the Future, pt. 2", especially Wes's slow motion spin in mid air as the weapon's fire went by. Another good scene was when Jen returned and she did the "gymnastics" maneuvers to avoid the Mut-Org's fire.

Of other notable interest, the writer of this episode, Amit Bhaumik, has been a long time part of the Power Rangers fandom; I can remember visiting his website during the PRIS era. I had read that he was somehow a part of the production of the show, but I had no idea that he's made it all the way to a writing position. I believe this episode was continuity conscious because of his writing it. Some other fan noticeable items are

The ending wasn't that satisfying, but it did offer an alternative to the normal "say goodbye and escort them away" of many of the other teamups". It also kind of led up to Forever Red.

Ten Red Rangers from past series come together to defeat the Machine Empire's attempts to revive Serpentera.

Viilain: Machine Empire Generals (Venjix, Tezzla, and Gerrok)

Personal Rating:****1/2 (out of five)

Brief Summary: We see the remnants of the Machine Empire (actually reused Beetleborgs suits) digging for Serpentera to avenge King Mondo. Andros is above them, looking through some hi-tech binoculars. He accidentally draws attention to himself when he knocks some rocks, and two generals go after him. He morphs and jumps on the Galaxy Glider to escape. Meanwhile, Bulk and Skull are playing Astronema's Power Rangers chess baord when they get a phone call for Tommy. Later, Carter gets Cole and takes him in the Lightspeed Rover to NASADA headquarters where they meet up with Eric, Wes, T.J., and Andros. Tommy shows up and briefs them on their situation: some Generals of the Machine Empire have survived and regrouped on the moon. They begin to leave when Jason shows up, and Cole acts like a crazed fan meeting his hero. Jason says he recognizes some of them (some better than others), and they set off in the Megaship Mark II to go to the moon. We then see Leo take his Quasar Saber out of the stone on Mirinois. The eitht Rangers show up on the moon and fight the Cogs unmorphed (well, most of them fought; Carter blasted away). The Generals walk out to Serpenterra, and Cole tries to stop them. He gets blasted by Venjix, but Leo and Aurico in a Jet Jammer pick Cole up. They land, and Leo unmorphs to tell Andros they received his message. All nine Rangers morph (Aurico already is morphed) and take on the bad guys. Cole and Jason take on the black one, Tommy and Wes do the same to a different one, and the rest of the teams are Leo/TJ, Carter/Andros, and Aurico/Eric. Finally, the black one jumps on Serpenterra and takes off. Andros wants to use the Megaship, but Carter says they need to get rid of him before he leaves the moon. Cole jumps on his flying Wild Rider and flies around Serpenterra. Finally, he flies in its mouth which blows it up. Back on Earth, the Rangers say goodbye to Tommy, and Cole mentions how he guess Tommy IS the best Red Ranger of all time, but the others gloat about how they should be, ending with TJ's story of being baked in a giant pizza.

Notable Events: *All past Red Rangers return unmorphed (except for Aurico who is morphed all the time) *Past Rangers Archie Kao, Walter Jones, and Katherine Sutherland return for the Machine Empire *Return of Serpenterra *First appearance of Megaship Mark II *Return of Bulk and Skull *Alpha 5's voice (Richard Horvitz) returns for Alpha 7
