Willow Anne Rosenburg, daughter of Shelia and Ira Rosenburg, began life as a shy, intelligent little girl.  When she was just a squalling infant, she met her best friend (and many say soul mate), Alexander (Xander) LeVille Harris.  At the age of five, the two dated for a short time.  Unfortunately, when Xander stole Willow's barbie, the redhead ended things then and there.

During her senior year of high school, Willow underwent many changes.  She learned how to live apart from best friend Buffy (who had run away for a short time), discovered that her feelings for Xander still existed (and acted upon them), lost Oz (after he discovered she was cheating on him with Xander), and then got Oz back again.  In fact, after Willow and Oz had repaired their shattered relationship, the two had sex.  Willow told the musician that it was "the best night of her life."

Willow also began to advance her witchcraft skills.  In fact, she became so involved in her studies that the entire town (including her mother) discovered what she was up to.  At that point, she
stood up to her mother for the first time in her teenage life, and almost found herself burned at the stake as a result.
When it became painfully obvious that Xander would never return her affections, Willow began dating musician Oz.  The two made a sickeningly sweet couple, and their relationship lasted for two long years.  That same year, Willow also began studying witchcraft.  She had taken over Jenny Calendar's computer class when the teacher (and techno pagan) had passed away.  Shortly afterward, she found the spell to restore Angel's (Buffy's boyfriend's) soul.  Though her friends didn't want her to perform the spell, Willow did so anyway, and restored the vampire's soul.  It appeared that Willow had found herself a new passion -- one that would continue to grow until she became an incredibly powerful witch.
Though Willow and Xander became fast friends with the new girl, the redheaded hacker found that things would never again be the same.  Not only was Buffy the slayer, she had also caught Xander's eye.  Nevertheless, Willow soon began to consider Buffy to be one of her best friends.  Together with Xander and Buffy's watcher, Giles, the four formed a group affectionately termed the Scoobies.  Willow's role in the group became "research girl," as she spent an endless amount of time hacking into files and poring over volumes in the school's library.
Soon after she began college, Willow discovered that Oz had had sex with a female werewolf.  Their relationship did not survive the challenge, and Oz left to try and figure out how to handle his werewolf alter-ego.  After Oz left, Willow became good friends with another Wiccan, Tara.  Together, the women practiced many spells and rituals, and Willow's witchcraft skills grew even stronger.  The two found themselves falling in love, and when Oz returned, Willow chose to remain with Tara.  The two are still happily together, caring for one another and living in the same dorm.  Of course, Willow still questions why Xander couldn't have figured out that smart girls were hot way back in tenth grade.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, she graduated from high school.  Unfortunately, the graduation ceremony was ruined when the mayor decided to turn himself into a gigantic snake.  Though most everyone survived the terrible ordeal, Willow and her fellow graduates had to learn to work together in order to put the mayor to death.  It was an incredible obstacle indeed.
In the beginning of her high school career, Willow was very much the computer nerd, and had a desperate crush on Xander.  Unfortunately, the latter didn't return her affections, especially after Buffy Summers moved to town at the beginning of tenth grade.  Soon after Buffy came to Sunnydale, and despite the threat of Cordelia's disdain, she decided that she desired Willow's friendship.
