Take Nothing For Granted
Prologue- “Mom I’m going out” Taisan said, heading for the door.
“No you’re not” her mother said, Taisan stopped and turned around.
“Why not mom?” she asked.
“Because, I don’t know where it is you’re going and your room is a mess”
“ Mom, my room is not a mess! Maybe you should go look at it with your eyes open!”
“That’s it in your room you’re not going”
“MOM!” Taisan yelled at her mom, this would be the last time ever that she would see her friend Amber.
“Don’t mom me, now go to your room!”
“No”
“What did you just say?”
“NO! I’m going whether you like it or not” Taisan said as she stood there, waiting for her mother to respond.
Her mom walked over to her and punched her in the face. Then she kept slapping her and hitting her.
“Mom stop it!” Taisan screamed and when her mom stopped for a second Taisan ran out of the house and just kept running, she was afraid her mom was behind her but when she turned around no one was there so she stopped running. It was always like this, she could ask to go somewhere and her mom would say no and if she asked why she would get beat but this was worse than ever, usually she was punched in the stomach or something, never her face and her mom never attacked her like that… ever. Taisan knew that she wasn’t going home, ever again, but she wanted to say good-bye to her sister Leah and her daughter Kellie. [After Leah had Kellie, Leah and her boyfriend broke up, so now Kellie has no dad.] O well it would have to wait, she couldn’t go home and Leah was most likely going home and she didn’t head this way. Where would Taisan go though? She never thought of that! There was one place she could go her boyfriend Lex’s house, his parents were nice, well his parent was nice. His dad was taken away after beating his mother up. Lex’s mom would know how Taisan felt too. She headed to Lex’s place, but before anything she went to see Amber.
*Knock knock *
Amber opened the door.
“Omg Taisan what happened?” Amber asked, noticing her bruise on her face.
“Nothing really I’m fine, I came to say bye Amber”
“I wish my parents didn’t want to move to New York.”
“Yea me too” Taisan said.
“Bye Taisan” amber said as she gave Taisan a hug.
“Bye Amber” Taisan said as she broke out of the hug, “ See ya sometime soon hopefully!”
“Yea, I hope so,” Amber said as she closed the door.
Taisan looked back at Amber’s house one more time, soon she wouldn’t be here anymore and Amber had always been there for Taisan. She then headed off to Lex’s.
*Knock knock*
Lex’s mom opened the door.
“Hey Taisan, what happened?”
“My mom” Taisan told her, Lex’s mom had always been like the mom Taisan had wanted and needed.
“Oh my! Does your mom know that you’re here?” She asked.
“No, and don’t tell her, I’m never going back”
Lex’s mom just looked at her.
“Lex is upstairs”
“Thanks” Taisan said as she headed up the stairs to Lex’s room.
“Hey Lex” Taisan said as she opened his door.
“Hey Tai--- whoa! What happened?” he said as he walked over to her.
“Mom again”
“Tai you cant go back there,” he said.
“I’m not”
“You can stay here with me,” he said.
“Really?” “Of course, my mom likes you, I love you, and you have no where to go.”
“Thanks” she said as she gave him a kiss.
3 months later-
Taisan had settled in with Lex and his mom. It was almost like Lex and Taisan were married or something.
Lex’s mom was out and he and taisan were watching TV when something interrupted the show.
Breaking news-
A deadly virus is spreading around the world. It is killing the adults. Hundreds are already dead, so say good-bye while you can.
“Lex maybe I should”
“Only if you want”
“Will you come with me?”
“ I cant this is between you and your parents, besides your mom hates me”
“Ok, I’ll be back later” she said as she gave him a kiss and then headed out the door.
When Taisan got to her old house she went inside.
“Mom! Dad! Leah! Brent!” she screamed, all she heard was crying.
“Kellie?” she said as she headed upstairs.
“How could they leave you here alone?” she said picking her up. There was a note.
Taisan,
If you see this I know that you really do care about Mom and Dad. Mom said that she was so sorry for abusing you and when you left it tore her apart inside. Dad, well you were his angel. Brent was kinda sad, he always liked his little sis and then you were gone. I missed you so much it’s hard to believe. Nobody else would help me with Kellie and you were always there.
Mom died 2 weeks ago, her last word were “ Taisan I love you” and Dad died 3 days ago. He said that you would always be his little angel and that he would make sure you were always ok. Brent was taken to a camp for kids 17 and under so you might see him unless you get away! I have the virus and I don’t know when I’ll go. Taisan I love you. You were the best sis ever!
Leah
By the time she finished the letter she was crying. “ I love you too”
Chapter 1- “So…” Taisan said, looking at Kellie. “ What am I going to do..”
Taisan thought for a while and then left, with Kellie.
“Hey Lex!” Taisan said as she walked in. ( remember they’re like a family now)
Nobody was there. “ lex? Ms. W?” Nobody answered. “god why me!” she yelled.
Taisan decided to go to the woods, she’d be safe there.
When Taisan and Kellie go to the woods Taisan started to look for some people that she knew, but no one was there.
“Well Kell, looks like it’s just you and me. I know you’re little and can’t understand me, but I have to tell you. Kellie I’m your real mom. Leah covered for me. Mom would have killed me. We made a deal to tell you when I was older but I guess you should know now, even though it doesn’t make a difference, you would have most likely thought I was your mom when you got older anyway.”
About 1 month later-
“My names Cloe, thanks for saving me back there” a little black girl said.
“No problem. I’m Taisan and this is Kellie” Taisan told her.
“Will you take me home?” she asked taisan.
“Sure” Taisan answered, “Where do you live?”
“I’ll show you, come on” Cloe said as she started to head to the city and Taisan followed.
“Bray we should be thinking about Cloe!” Amber yelled at him.
“Yea she could be anywhere!” Patsy said, crying. She missed her best friend Cloe.
“Hey everyone!” Cloe said as she and Taisan walked into the mall. “ This is Taisan she saved me from the Locos” Cloe told them.
“Taisan?” Amber said, “ Omg! You’re alive! We thought you were dead because we couldn’t find you” Amber said as she gave her a hug.
“Um… You two know each other?” Jack asked.
“No Jack we just happen to be friends” Amber said as she rolled her eyes.
“Wait, Tai, you never had a kid”
“This is Kellie”
“Oh, so Leah…”
“Yea, by the way, who’s we?” Taisan asked.
“Lex” Amber whispered in her ear so the tribe wouldn’t know.
“He’s here?” Taisan asked with excitement.
“Yea, he should be here soon, he’s always late”
“The way I remember him” Taisan commented.
“Hey guys what’s the meeting about?” Lex asked as he walked down the stairs.
“Um…” Amber said as she stepped behind Taisan.
“This is Taisan” Bray said.
Lex and Taisan just stared at each other.
“um…hey Lex can I talk to you and Taisan?” Amber asked, she didn’t know whether to tell the tribe about them or just let it be.
“yea sure” lex said, heading to amber’s room. Amber pulled taisan along.
“Lex” Taisan said.
“I’ll leave you two alone” amber said as she left.
“Tai, a baby?”
“It’s Kellie”
“Oh” Lex said.
“Why weren’t you at your house?”
“I was taken away to a camp, why weren’t you at the camp? Brent was there”
“I went into the woods after going back to your place”
“Lex, there’s something you need to know”
“What? Do you have another boyfriend?”
‘NO! Lex… um… Kellie is ours”
“what do you mean?”
“Leah covered for me, she’s our daughter”
“Wait… how?”
“ well my mom would have killed me, so leah and I went to the hospital and when I had Kellie she pretended that Kellie was her daughter.”
“So Leah wasn’t pregnant?”
“pillow”
